Default 5 years, 3 months, 19 days. GOAL!

After all this time I don’t get on this site much. In the beginning I lived here! Had my sleeve done in Mexico-best decision I ever made.
I lost 100 lbs pretty quickly and at 173 just 5 pounds from goal I got pretty complacent. I was able to maintain that weight eating pretty much whatever I wanted so I coasted. Over the years I picked up a bit qetting back up to 196 around Christmas last year. Had to give myself a good kick in the pants. I didn’t go through all this to get back in a terrible place. I hate the gym! So I dance! Everyday!
I still almost every time over estimate how much I can eat. You would think I’d have it by now. Sometimes I can eat more than others but stopping is so easy now. I know one more bite and I’ll be uncomfortable. Eating so little I do get a bit hungry between meals at times but always try to have healthy snacks handy. Going to make a new goal of 148 then I think I’m done. At 63...almost 64 I feel amazing! I can run and jump (don’t forget dancing). Chase after my grandkids. Anyone considering this don’t let fear hold you back. I have read before only about 3% of people do surgery for weight loss. It’s hard folks - I’ve been on a diet my entire life. This was a game changer. My only regret is that I didn’t do it years sooner.

Oh, Debbie! What a wonderful post. You sound like you're living your fullest and best life right now.

At 72, I feel the same way. I see my surgeon's team tomorrow for my fourth year surgiversary follow-up. Weight is still holding steady at my goal weight. But the best part of this journey for me has been how very much I continue to learn and improve re self-care. Perhaps the truly best part is how much this process has opened up so much more for me than losing weight and finding my own fullest and best life. I could wax quite woo-woo about that, but I'll not.

Four years post-op, I feel like I won the lottery!

tl;dr Life after WLS seems to get better all the time.

So proud of you for stopping before things got out of hand and getting back to your prior weight and then losing that final 5 pounds. You are AWESOME!!! You are a prime example of remembering that this is a tool....that when used properly gets us to where we need to be. You are 5+ years post op and that tool is still working like a champ and you are owning your journey!! Way to go Debbie!
