    Default Introduction

Hello. My name is Adrian and I just joined this forum and thought I would introduce myself. I'm 47 years old and have been overweight starting in my 20's. My current weight is 383 pounds. I finally have my surgery date after a long 6 month journey! It will be on December 5th! I'm really excited, and I would be totally lying if I said I wasn't really scared too. Especially after watching episodes of the tv show Skin Tight! Before I watched that show I think I was maybe delusional on what this surgery is going to do for me. I kept thinking that with hard work and determination I was going to end up with a body that looked like Thor after I had the surgery. This show has been kind of a reality check for me. I realize now that I may not end up looking like Thor but I will have a real chance at getting my health back, and that's what's really important. I hope I'm doing the right thing. I am so scared of failing yet again! I have been overweight for so many years, and I have tried and failed so many times to loose weight, I just really hope this works out for me and I have no regrets. I hope I can finally overcome my addiction to food, eat healthy and finally get this damn weight off once and for all! I weigh 382 pounds and I am sick and tired of it! I have been overweight since I was 20 years old! I no longer want my weight and eating to control my life! I am tired of almost being a diabetic, sleeping with a cpap mask on, and taking 4 different blood pressure pills! I'm tired of being treated like **** by society, and never being able to buy the clothes I want! I'm tired of hating myself, being ashamed, and slowly killing myself! I want to see what being healthy is all about! I want to live! I want to experience loving myself and taking pride in my appearance! To experience buying nice clothes and seeing how differently I'm treated by society as a slim person! This feeling of being trapped and being miserable and unhappy will hopefully soon become a memory! Big changes are coming! I know it won't be easy! Nothing worthwhile is ever easy! I hope this surgery gives me a new life! December 5th! My surgery date! My 2nd birthday!

    Adrian,
Mate! You are my bloody favourite today! You sound so ready for this. I just got home from the hospital an hour ago. I don't think I am ever going to regret my decision. I am totally barracking for ya. You've had enough, you can hear it in your post. You've got to change your lifestyle and you can but this is going to help you heaps. It might be rough for a little bit, thats life, you can hack that. listen to the fire in your message. You've hacked being overweight for most of your life. you can do the little rough bit.
You know the part that really touched me in your message, the bit about being treated like shit by society. I hate that. I hate that you get treated better when you are thinner. Thats probably the only bit about this surgery that will leave my heart a little bit broken.
You are going to totally change your life. I send you all the good wishes xxx

Adrian...sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to rise from the ashes like a phoenix. You can do this. Get your mind right. It is so much easier to lose weight once you have been sleeved. You still have to follow rules and get your body moving but the sleeve makes it easy to do! If you want it as bad as you seem to...then you will be successful as long as you are honest with yourself and use your tool wisely. Congrats on your date. It is truly life changing.

Welcome! Things are going to be fine....you will be very happy with the results. I had the surgery less than 3 months ago and I am down 61 pounds and feel fantastic. As with most people here on the site, the most scary part is the anticipation of what it will be like. And the hospital stay is certainly scary. And the immediate after effect of surgery is painful and challenging. However, after that, you will be a front row participant to the miracle of finally food not having that addiction on you. When I think how long it has been since I had soda or pizza or fast food etc etc....I can't believe it! It's only been 2 1/2 months but I could barely go 2 1/2 minutes without some high carb junk food in my mouth. Now, it is not an issue and I am feeling GREAT. I believe you will too!

    Hi, Mr. Adrian.

You CAN have all that. And probably more.

VSG surgery has been a miracle for me. A true miracle. I'm 3 years, 3 months post-op and went from a size 22 to a size 4. My life is extraordinarily different and better for all the work I've done to build and live a healthy lifestyle.

    It's yours to choose, too.

But it does take more than getting sleeved. Keep reading. You'll figure it all out.
