    Default 50 lbs down (photo)

    20170807_074705_1502107093584.jpg

I know many people here have lost a lot more than that, but I haven't seen a lot of before and after photos. Or, in my case, "before" and "during".

This is 3.5 months difference. It's just my face, but I was surprised when I looked at the pics side by side. I was around 257 in the first pic and 204 in the second. What's so fun is that I can very easily not see coworkers or friends for 3 months, which means that the last time they saw me, I was over 50lbs heavier. They see me now and are shocked. I love that, and I know it's going to continue.

    Age: 51
    Highest weight: 257
    Starting weight: 252.4

    Month 2: -9.4 (223)
    Month 3: -11 (212)
    Month 4: -11.6 (200.4)
    Month 5: -8 (192.4)
    Month 6: -7.6 (185.8)
    Month 7: -5.2 (180.2)
    Month 8: -5.4 (174.8)
    Month 9: -3.8 (171)
    Month 10: -5 (166)
    Month 11: -3.4 (162.6)
ONE YEAR: -1.4 (161.2) Total loss: 95.8 pounds!

Nice work. Keep doing what you are doing. The shocked and amazed reaction is a lot of fun. Wait till they all reach the "are you ok?" and the "are you sick?" phase. I don't know how many people have asked my if I'm sick...... I just say I'm great, and in better shape than I've been in 20 years!

    Congrats on your success!

    Thank you!
I work at a VERY large company, but a woman that I worked with recently passed away from cancer. She was in her early 50s and had gotten SO thin before her death, that it was scary. I think a lot of people I work with saw her lose weight and said she looked great, but then saw her get way way way too thin and got nervous. She passed away shortly after my surgery.
So now I've had 2 people ask me if I'm ok and I know they are thinking about my former coworker, so I quickly have to assure them that I'm FINE and feel GREAT and I wanted to lose.

Perhaps it's just how I think, but a sad state of affairs has arrived when people look at a normal-weight person and wonder if he/she is sick or "okay."

It's a somewhat pathetic sign of the times. Overweight and obesity have become the new normal by default, so we tend to stand out like a sore thumb when we lose enough weight to attain a normal body habitus.
