Just 15 day Post op and I've already Lost 1/2 the weight I was hoping to lose.

Well I have not been able to tolerate much other than Hot Tea, Soup, water, Popsicles and maybe 1 protein shake a day.
I felt super bloated the first week after surgery with all the fluids still in me so I decided to stay away from the scale.
Tonight at day 15 post op I gave in an weighted myself. I was really shocked. I needed to lose 60 lbs to reach my goal weight of 195 and I've already lost 30 pounds. I honestly hope it slows down as I think that's a lot to lose in just 2-3 weeks.

OH. I wanted to share something I found that I can tolerate and is yummy.. Egg Drop soup from the Chinese restaurant down the street.

I had a lot of broth from the chinese take out place by me in the beginning. And then on soft foods, I was addicted to lentil soup that I make (the recipe from skinnytaste). I found that my tastes changed a lot along the road.

@ linda51 . No not walking at all. actually got a gout flare up oddly enough and haven't been able to walk for a week without a walker or crutches.
Been sleeping like 7-9 hours a night and taking 2 naps a day at 1-2 hours each. I lost more blood than normal so the sleeping may be my body trying to replenish my lost blood.

Being a man and only needing to lose 60 lbs total is pretty low. Generally men lose quicker and most people are trying to lose about 100 lbs. I was on the smaller side (although my BMI was 41.8) as the amount of weight I was aiming to lose was only 87 lbs. I have passed that goal. I am pretty sure you will pass yours, especially if you are having trouble eating. Hopefully you can start getting in more nutrients.

Since this thread seems to be active again I figured I would update it. It's been 2 weeks since I posted this and I haven't lost any more weight (I'm glad for this) I'm still at 219 lbs. I lost a 30 lbs in the first 2 weeks and nothing in the last 2 weeks. I am still not eating many solid foods yet. 2 protein shakes a day and soups and hot tea and some ice Cream I think may have been allergic to gluten or wheat or something that was causing me to retain alot of fluids / water weight which is why I lost so much so quickly. Anyway, I'm happy with slow and steady losing from now on (Hopefully) .

Great news. Prepare yourself for the fact that you will likely lose more weight than you planned (or even wanted to).

I had my 6 month Dr and Nut appointments and for the first time in my life, I have two medical people telling me that I need to STOP losing. Problem is, I can't physically eat anymore. I also refuse to eat junk or high fat crap to counter the weight loss. I won't be in full panic mode for about 10 more pounds...... Dr. said if I lose 10 more pounds he's going to have me start eating ice cream everynight. Maybe I should drop those 10 pounds.......

Yea.. That was kind of my fear. I have always been a big muscular guy (In a good way) and Unlike most of the ladies on here, I Don't want to get skinny.
I think that is why I started eating ice cream a couple times a week. That and my stomach tolerates it really well unlike most other things.
