That initial week or two post-op, do you feel like you are starving, mentally or physically? If so, what did you do to alleviate that? Thank you
I had absolutely no appetite during those first two postoperative weeks. I was profoundly disinterested in food. I actually had to remind myself to drink water and protein shakes.

Good God, no!
My post-op experience was exactly as promised -- the surgically removed portion of my stomach (the fundus, the stretchy part of the stomach that produces the hunger hormone, ghrelin) really did take away my hunger.
BTW, ghrelin also regulates thirst, which is why you have to be very disciplined post-op of drinking/sipping all your water. It'll take about a month for your throat to relax a bit so you can drink more regularly.
Over the last two years post-op my body has learned how to produce some ghrelin and I do get hungry these days -- but nothing like I did pre-op. Admittedly, I have been quite disciplined about building very different habits and a much healthier lifestyle than I had pre-op, so I have many other tools than just my sleeve to help me maintain my weight loss.
Good luck to you.

Food is a non issue. Keep Hydrated!!!
No, I wasn't hungry at all in the beginning. (I am now, almost 3 years later.)
My stomach growled a few times, and I was kind of mad about it....here I was, recovering from the sleeve and feeling hungry.....turned out to be the gas making thay noise and feeling in my tummy. Prilosec took care of it. If yur hungry it's probably gas, or head hunger....which is usually a pretty big annoyance at some point in our journey

I so far haven't had any hunger, it is a struggle to get down food at all and I usually have to force myself that it is worth it to bother trying. On the other hand, I do have a desire for some of my pre-op foods, but not in the same way as before. I want them, but not quite on the craving level, just more the interested, yet not quite up to having them level, (reminds me of the way I felt when sick with a stomach virus and saw everyone around me having pizza..)
Yes my hunger didn't drop off till day 16 or 17. A swollen stomach and/or the excess acid your stomach makes (due to having 80% of it removed) mimics hunger. I had a hard time dealing with it mentally until I learned about these facts. Off and on until our stomach fully heals we're going to get curve balls so it really helped me to know this to be able to deal with it.
No hunger at all in the beginning. 4 months later.....oh yeah!
