Lightbulb During the 3rd week post op Pureed phase, is spicy stuff ok to eat?

    Hi there,

I am just asking in advance as i love spicy food..(i know, a lot of you may not like spicy food, but i have been brought up having them since i was young and it is one of my favourite things in a food..don't like sweet stuff but prefer spicy/sour stuff..lol)
So as i get to my 3rd week which is Ok'd for Pureed and mushy stuff..like creamy mash, over cooked vege / fish etc.. i was thinking of having spicy mash potato's.. would that be ok to eat or is that not allowed?

I would love to have some Spicy Tom Yum soup as well (thai soup)..which is clear so i should be able to have that during my 2nd week phase right? day after tomorrow!

It doesn't say anywhere that i can't have spices in my post op notebooks..but just wanted your opinions.

    Many thanks xx

    No pre op diet.

I was told there is no restriction in regards to spicy food. I love spicy food too, but wonder if I can eat it when we aren't allowed to drink for so long after eating.

As long as you have no stomach issues, enjoy spicy foods unless your surgeon has advised otherwise.
If you start to get an upset stomach, then throttle back on the use of hot spices/sauces.

I loved making my own spicy Gazpacho soup and would kick the other foods (especially during the puree phase) up a notch or three with hot sauces.

    Enjoy.

Inside some of us is a thin person struggling to get out, but they can usually be sedated with a few pieces of chocolate cake.

Try it! I never had any problems with spicy food, but some people do.

Go for it. Just listen to your stomach. I loved spicy food at all phases, but my stomach seems to love everything.

As most of the docs say: Introduce new foods gradually, one at a time -- and try them first at home, rather than when eating out. Makes sense, eh?

Before sleeve, I loved spicy foods; couldn't get enough of them. But now, they upset my tummy but I still eat them and just deal with the pain

The spicy foods don't upset my stomach but they do irritate my throat right now. Still sore from the intubation tube.

girl I was raised in Louisiana on Cajun spice. Now after sleeve I can not stand anything with any spice. Haven't had gas and I don't want to. I made my own homemade crab bisque soup and wanted to spice it up, well my stomach was not having it. My hubby ate it and I had to make a non spicy version for myself. I hope this changes soon lol
