Nope. Baby food isn't the way to go.
Not good. At all.
Try refried beans and melted cheese.
And soups.
And scrambled eggs.
And cottage cheese.
And good Greek yogurt.

No, it's totally disgusting.
Soup is good. Ended up just sticking to the broth & straining out the other stuff in the early days.
I thought it was good I had some broth, jello, shakes etc in the house for the recovery period. True, your tastes may change. But at least for me if I liked it a lot before my surgery, it was tolerable afterward. And the flip side - if I didn't like it before there was no way I could stand it post op. I didn't want to be having to shop & taste test that first month after surgery. Over time my tastes did change - I liked my shakes for a few months & then it was like a switch was flipped - just hated them & they were too sweet.
A little is good, but like Mich D said don't stock up a lot.
I had a lot of baby food pouches in the house still because my youngest was about 14 months when I had surgery. We had all this left over still, so I thought, hey these will come in handy. Nope, no way, nu-uh. I couldn't find one that I could eat and, even more to the point, if I had eaten them, I would have had issues getting my protein in as well, even with protein drinks. When I was off clear liquids and on to pureeds, I did hummus, flavored lentil dips, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, unjury chicken soup, and worked my way up to scrambled eggs, flavored tofu, egg white souffles, refried beans, etc. etc.
I strained soups, broths, sugar free popsicles, isopure protein drink. I bought 2oz jello cups frm amazon & froze my soups broth & food it was easy just microwave 45sec I still use them but have graduated to 4oz now. Mayo clinic has a great bariatric diet plan I followed on line & worked well. Good luck keep us all posted! Join us all in the loser club! God speed to a quick recovery!
Oh that is a no on the baby food it is so nasty. I wouldn't go crazy on stocking up on things. Your taste may change mine did a little the biggest one for me was I hated protein shakes pre-op so thank goodness I loved them post-op.
Good luck to you both
Stacy
