    Default 3 years post op!!!

Can't believe it's been 3 years! I am still doing great and still check in here now and then. Still maintaining my weight loss and feeling great. So thankful for my sleeve and for this forum and all the vets who helped me out here with advice. Especially Rainbow! She was such a ray of sunshine and motivation for me. I still follow the weight loss surgery rules of protein first, then veggies and/or complex carbs, and drinking all my water. I still wait 30 minutes to drink after eating!

Still maintaining under goal! Healthy Bmi! NORMAL A1C with diabetes in remission for over 2 years now. The sleeve WORKS if you follow the rules! Like a charm! Don't fight the system and the rules--embrace them! Good luck and hugs everyone!

    Starting BMI 2/3/2012 - 38
Goal BMI-24! REACHED and BELOW!! 10/2012 Current BMI 21.0!
The best goals reached are the ones hardest earned.

Congratulations on your accomplishment, that's something to be proud of for sure. I'm not worried about losing the weight, I can do that and have done it over and over again. I'm worried about not being able to keep it off. You give me hope!!! I've failed at losing/keeping it off so many times that in the back of my head I'm thinking I'll fail this time too. I'll have my surgery sometime late summer and look forward to the journey. Thanks for checking in and keep up the fantastic work.

Misty, you GOT this! I, too, am 3 yrs out---lost 135 lbs and maintaining! And YES sleeve ONLY works if you follow rules as you stated above! I preach this constantly to those who are sleeved and those who are considering sleeve surgery.

Your presence and opinions are of great educational and psychological value. Thank you for bringing them.

Maybe I should ask this in a separate thread, but I'll throw this out here.

By saying you continue to work the program of protein first, etc., does that mean you virtually never eat compositionally otherwise? For instance, I'd rather have a breakfast of Grapenuts, walnuts, and raisins with skim milk, as I did this a.m., than anything protein dominant first thing in the morning. Do you get my drift?

I will let others answer, but I dont see a problem with this. What I do though to up my protein intake is to replace anywhere you use milk with a vanilla premade protein shake. I use the Premier Protein ones from costco - it tastes like vanilla milk, and now i have a hard time going back to regular milk. At 30g protein in 11oz carton, I use 1/3 to 1/2 a carton in a bowl of cereal - it really helps! that is 10-15g protein! You can also use it to make pancakes etc... replace milk in most things with it and get a really good protein boost on your day while eating the composition otherwise you like.

Thanks, Jane, that makes sense. I'm pasting that into my "reference manual."
