Hair styles for the thinner hair ?

Well I've lost lots of hair and now have a thin head of long hair . I've decided to go and get it cut today don't want to go too drastic but want it too look good. It's about 5 inches past my shoulder at the moment and looks like rubbish . Can anyone make any suggestions as to how they have had there hair done because I've lost lots of weight but feel rubbish because of my hair !!

I went with a chin length bob. This is where a great hairstylist is worth every penny! Our faces are changing and styles you may have tried in the past and not liked may be very flattering with your new slim face. Get lots of input from your stylist. I went from having hair that was past my bra strap to chin length and my hair did look much healthier and thicker at the shorter length! Now its getting thicker again and I am gradually growing it back out. I hope you love the style you choose!!! A good hair makeover can give your whole look a boost and make you feel more stylish in your new smaller clothes!

I also had long (bra strap length) very curly full head of hair. I had lost alot of it and also went with a layered chin length bob.

never would have done it with a rounder (fatter) face but it is actually very pretty. And trust me.. I LOVED my long hair and it was a very difficult thing for me to do. Last time I had short hair it was the 80s and I had a mullet. My hair was my identity.

Now that it is chn length I do have to straighten it every day and it is still pretty thin.

I found thsi stuff at CVS called "Cover Your Grey: Cleanse and Color" its like a powder that you dab on grey hair...but I found it works for making thin spots look fuller.

I had thicker hair to start.. And have lost lots but it does not look to bad and hopefully it is stopping . I have not had short hair in over 30 years and am actually afraid to try a shorter style .
The funny part is that iris growing so fast. At least an inch a month! I am having to color the roots about every 3 weeks .

I went from shoulder length to a just under the ear bob. The back is even shorter and curlier. My stylist also lightened my hair which is something I didn't normally do but then she high lighted it later and I love it.

Short-ish hair with side part with lots of layers is good for thin hair! Check out products like Toppik or Nanogen to fill in any spots where your scalp might show through.

I had shoulder length hair and lost quite a bit. I opted for "tape in extensions" on the advice of my hairdresser and I LOVE them! Not only that my husband (who loves long hair) LOVES them! Even though my own hair is re-growing slowly...about 3 to 4 inches long right now (mixed with the longer hair that was left) I highly doubt I will ever go without the extensions. I have had soooo many compliments on my weight loss AND my gorgeous hair that it has been amazing!

Diane how are "taped in extentions kept in place and how do you care for or replace them .i really am afraid to go short but I may get about 4 inche cut off . My friend who is /was (retired ) says she thinks I would be disappointed with layers .

I've worn extensions before but mine were glued in. Depending on the hair, you can actually do everything with it. Swim, wash it etc. The sewed in type lasts longer.

I was told that extensions can actually do more harm than good. When your hair starts to row back and you want the extentions out, you can pull out alot of hair and damage new growth. I did look into the clip in kind though.
