Default How much can you eat at 4 months?

    Hi all,

I am 4.5 months post op. My doc thinks I should be eating 4 oz by now but I can only eat 1.5-1.75 oz of meat. If I have yogurt, I can probably do about 2.5 ounces. If I try to eat more, I vomit.

I am certainly not complaining about the restriction, though it does present a challenge to meeting the 1200 calorie/80 g protein plan he gave me. I don't come close to the calories. I try very hard to get 60 g protein but can't always do it. It's a hard balance between eating often enough and getting in enough water. But I'd rather be able to eat less than eat more.

So I'd like to know what your stomach can hold at 4 months. Does anyone else have the restriction I have?

    Hello,
At eleven weeks, I can eat about 4-5.5 oz of food, but only 2 to 2.5 oz of beef or chicken, or 3 oz of seafood or fish. I can eat a whole container of light n fit greek yogurt (5.4 oz) at one time. Meat is much harder to digest.

Apythia, I've been eating 3-4 ounces since about 6 weeks out.

If I am doing soup I can eat a little more, maybe 6 ounces. But that's really pushing it.

I forget if you've had an EGD post-op. If so, have they ruled out a stricture (twisting of the new tummy) or any post-op unusual shaping of the stomach, e.g., into an hourglass shape?

No, I haven't but I am going to request one. I think there is something wrong but my surgeon doesn't want to admit it (really, what stomach virus lasts 5 weeks?) so I am hoping my referral for a gastroenterologist comes soon so I can find someone to help me figure this all out.
