Hi, sounds like low blood pressure (I'm a nurse and I get it too). I feel like I'm going to faint whenever I stand up after crouching down. It's awful. Do you mainly get it when you stand from a sitting/low position? I recommend lots of water and moving the muscles in your legs before you go to stand as it helps to reduce the lightheaded feeling. I saw a dietitian on Friday and discussed this problem with him, he suggested that I make sure I have the entire amount of protein that I'm meant to have (60 grams - sorry don't know what that is in ounces).

Hope this helps. Did the doctor say that your blood pressure was low when you went for your medicals? Hope you feel better soon.

I've had the lightheaded thing, too -- although it's a lot better now than it was immediately post-op.

However, my symptoms actually started a few months pre-op when I put myself on a pre-pre-op diet (and lost 11 pounds on my own). These days, it mostly happens when I raise and lower (or lower and then raise) my head -- something I also do when standing up)

BTW, I'm 69 years old. That might have something to do with it, too. ???

Roxanne, I will try your tip about moving my leg muscles, which I should be doing a lot more of anyway while I'm sitting.

When you get dizzy does it feel like things are moving around in your own head or like the room is spinning?

Happens to me too, seems to have gotten worse the last month. I need to up my water intake. I do have low blood pressure, so that's a contributing factor.

But it sounds like your energy level is impacting work and personal life. That's not good. Are you getting all of your protein? Are you eating healthy carbs?

On a different subject, I really want to visit your country. I was supposed to do some work with QMA but it fell through.

Just gonna parrot what everyone else said... but if it were me, I'd be concerned. Could be hormones, sugar levels, I did that when I got dehydrated and to go to the hospital. Id have more tests done, let us know

Sorry but going to say the same thing....I had this, went to the Doctor and found out my blood pressure was way too low. They readjusted my blood pressure medication and now I am fine....Good luck!

My surgery was over a year ago and after I lost all my weight I have had 5 "episodes" where I feel horrible, start sweating profusely for no reason, and feel like I'm moving through sand or something. Very weird. After about the third time I went to the doctor, had a stress test, echo, etc., and every test came out fine. I'm 57. I am very used to working out, even walked all the time as a fat person. My doctor said dehydration, but it just happened this weekend after I drank a large drink. I've always had good blood pressure, maybe it did get too low, I don't know.

I'm having the same issue, to the point where several times a day I find myself having to grab onto something for fear of fainting. I'm seeing the PA on Tuesday, but my friend is an ER nurse and she's been with me when it happens and things it's a combination of low blood sugar and low blood pressure.

I have also had episodes of dizziness prior to having the WLS. Of course the Dr. didn't find anything wrong....Don't get me started.... My blood pressure is also low, and has even been too low to donate blood one time when I tried to donate. Have your inner ear checked out as a possible contributor. The inner ear apparently has crystals that can cause dizziness when they shift. Who knew? Not the Dr. I went to. Good luck.

There is a name for that dizziness however I forget what it is, but it is due to losing alot of weight at one time it messes with your blood pressure. Your Bariatric doctor should know what i'm talking about. It can also be not enough protein, or dehydration or low blood sugar. I had a few episodes of that too, make sure you are close to something or have a cane or something, it can last a day or so for me at times. Doctor just said sit up slowly and stand up slowly and it should help.

I am experiencing the dizziness as well. I do not have low blood pressure and it isn't low blood sugar either. While I don't want any of us to experience this, it is helpful to know others are experiencing it. Sometimes, it feels like the room is spinning and others, it feels like my brain is spinning. I plan to touch base with my physician about it. Hope not all of us will stay dizzy dames.

I have the crystal problem. It zapped my energy, felt like the room was spinning and if I closed my eyes it would intensify and I would vomit. It is called vertigo. Go to an ENT and ask for the test. They will check the inner ear first then give you a series of tests. Don't let it go too long. You don't want to be driving and have an episode. Mine was so bad I had to stop driving for 3 months. If all your medical tests are showing that you are fine I would go the ENT route. Ear Nose Throat specialist. Good luck.
