I am from Georgetown, Tx. I just completed the mandatory weight loss required by my Dr. and am waiting for scheduling.

New news, I had my sleeve done 12/2 and am now 9 days past surgery. Everything going ok am down 30 lbs so far. Still on clear Liquids and will change over to full liquids on 12/16.

Is any one having a hard time giving diet coke up, I don't drink it all the time but may be one at dinner. My operation is set for the 27th of October, any advice would help.

I use to be addicted to coke, but I just stop it all 2 yrs ago, then restart again, but only at dinner I will have one. but since the surgery just gave it up completely. I miss it but , I was also a water drinker, it seems that now I cant drink water. so I have started drinking a no sugar drink from walmart they come in different flavors. its really good, they have ice tea peached, punch and so on.

Im in Austin, 4 days post up. Had it at St.Davids too. Dr. Steven Fass with Southwest Bariactrics. Doing great so far. I am thinking I will miss diet coke alot. I loved carbonation. Even drank carbonated water. Ah well. moving on to teas and mio.

Yay for you! Congrats on your surgery! I'm with you on the shared love for carbonation. Occasionally, I will indulge but it usually interferes with my ability to eat later . So I try to steer clear of sodas for the most part. Best of luck to you!

I use to be a big Diet Coke freak, for me its just give it up and picked up water again. After surger nowI cant drink water like I use too. During christmas at my Nieces house, they were having a cold diet coke, wow I missed that day sure looked good. when i drinked DC was only from can or bottle it had to be ice cold. no fountain drink for me.

I had surgery Feb 5, 2015 at St. David's.
I was really impressed with the hospital and staff - the nurses were wonderful, my surgeon Dr. Sherrod excellent and the SWBS team & their follow up has been great.
As a self pay, they really made it informative, personnel and affordable, by having the Surgeons, Hospital and Anesthesiologist come together and create a realistic package price, for those of use that this type of surgery is omitted from coverage
They rocked my world!

Jainee, if you wouldn't mind sharing, what did you pay for VSG surgery at St. David's?

Excluding my initial meeting with the surgeon, it was a little over $10k. Which for the standard of service, follow-up, was fantastic. I was so impressed I want to try and make this package available for some of my staff at work. I can't say enough good things about it,

I stopped drinking diet coke over 13 months ago since surgery. I use to drink up to 2 Liters a day and have not craved it since the surgery. I think I miss it, but would be scared in getting back into bad habits. I think I have convinced myself that is the case and therefore don't miss it. I drink more tea now and water yuk unless it is really ice cold.

I am having surgery in Mexico but live in Austin. Hoping to find a bariatric Dr to follow me around Austin for my aftercare. My PCP knows about it but I would feel more comfortable with a bariatric surgeon I could see in Austin if I need to.
