Hi there...
OK having a blonde moment .... no disrespect meant x x
On My Fitness Pal website.....just realised (i think) the protein amount is calories not gms ????
Help, please tell me 1 calorie = 1 gm of protein
x x x
You have to adjust your targets based on percent and total calories, but protein is counted in g. I set a calorie goal, then adjust protein to the g I need, and try and balance the rest between fat and carbs keeping the protein g where I need them.

Net Calories Consumed* 950 calories
Carbohydrates 15% 36g
Protein 80% 190g
Fat 5% 5g
Sorry girls......still being amazingly thick ?????
This is what i have changed on the MFP settings....whats 190g ??? i am struggling with getting in protein and need to crack this, as i know it will help.... please dummy explain....Many thanks
950 calories times 80% = 760 calories divided by 4 (number of calories in 1 gram - g - protein) = 190 grams (g) of protein.
950 calories times 15% = 142 calories divided by 4 (number of calories in 1 gram carbs) = 36 grams (g) of carbs.
950 caloreis times 5% = 47 calories divided by 9 (number of calories in 1 gram fat) = 5 grams (g) of fat.
Now, you say you are struggling to get your protein in. So my question, based on the info above, are you entering your food intake correctly? If so, you are doing well.
Dubai, maybe this will help.
Grams is a measurement of weight.
Calories is a measurement of energy.
Teaspoons, tablespoons, ounces, cups, milliliters, liters are measurements of volume.
Let's look at a simple cup (8 ounces or 237 milliliters) of skim milk. It has these food values (among others):
Total energy = 90 calories
Carbohydrates = 11 grams
Protein = 8 grams
Fat grams = 0 grams
Each gram of protein and each gram of carbohydrates is converted by the body into 4.5 calories. Each gram of fat is converted by the body into about 9 calories.
So when you convert all the protein, carbohydrate and fat grams that are in 1 cup of skim milk you get:
Carbohydrates = 11 grams X 4.5 calories = 49.5 calories
Protein = 8 grams X 4.5 calories = 36 calories
Fat grams = 0 grams X 9.0 calories = 0 calories
Total calories = 85.5 calories (which is pretty close to the 90 calories that is listed in a cup of skim milk)
(And if you find this unhelpful, just ignore it.)

Hi Guys....and girls... only me again..x
Thats what i ate yesterday, see below, as on MFP.....does that mean i had 134gms of protein ???? on the tin of salmon, its says that for that weight it would be 46gms....and your saying 87 ??
I hope i have got this right ....and no wonder i have been having a nightmare eating enough protein....hhhahahahahahha x x
Please confirm i am now on the right track,,,, and i will jump up and down for joy x x x x
On MFP Calories Carbs Fat Protein
Bumble Bee - Wild Alaska Red Salmon, 7.7 oz 350 0 18 46 = ( on the tin this is the value of protein in gms) ?
1/2 Rasher - Grilled Bacon, 100 g 189 0 14 14
Total 539 0 32 60
MFP isn't always perfect especially on exercise but if the facts are right in the nutrition then you can trust them to add it up correctly.
Eating those two things you listed would give you 539 cal, zero carbs, 32 gms of fat and 60 gms of protein.
If you go to Home-Goals-change goals-custom you can make your own calorie and % goals. The fat, carbs and protein will show up as carbs.
