Ok...look....you've been sleeved for a year and are disappointed with the results. You've done it the same way now for 12 months. Why don't you shake things up........a lot.

The last year only proves one thing and one thing only. The plan you were given to follow isn't working for you. It might work for others, but not you. So, it's time to ditch the surgeon and get on with taking ownership of your very own nutrition, supplement, and hydration plan. Even if you can eat 10 oz of food at one sitting, that does not mean you are eating too much. It just means that you are eating too much of the wrong foods...for you. Instead of eating three meals a day of 10 ozs, try eating five meals a day of 6 ozs. Same total intake, but, eating more often gives you more opportunities to get in the items you must get in without eating too much. Since I do not know your current dietary intake, your activity level, or your hydration intake, I can only assume that one, or more, of these items are deficient in your daily life.

So, make a new plan. Mix in more, or less, of everything. Carbs, protein, etc. Your body is throwing up a huge roadblock and is throwing a huge temper tantrum over this new way of eating and will continue to stall until you change something up.

You need to remember one thing. If you aren't over eating, then you just plain can't eat enough of the "bad" foods to cause you to not lose weight, or gain weight. I lost a ton of weight with the sleeve not by measuring and sweating the details. I lost it by researching, making a plan, changing that plan when needed, and being as flexible as a rubber band when I needed to look at options.

Here's the part that's gonna hurt. If you haven't taken the time to make your own plan, then, in my own very humble opinion, I think you've been lazy. Do you plan on spending the rest of your life going to this doctor and failing time after time after time? Do you think he/she will ever take ownership of their role in your lack of weight loss? UH...no they won't. In their eyes, if the surgery didn't kill you, then it was a success. Just how invested do you think they are?

Now, I will allow for outside influences causing you not to lose. The thyroid issue is very, very, legit. If that's the case, then get it adjusted. If the thyroid is just a little off, then it's something you are eating, or not eating, that is causing the problem and the only person who can fix that is you, and you alone.

I really am sorry you have had to deal with this. No one should go through what we go through the first year and not have lost a significant amount of weight. But, not to be ugly, you have a hand in this failure and you also have the power to fix it. This isn't a race. You will be sleeved for the rest of your life. So, get busy making adjustments and get busy with getting back on track.

If you are interested in what I did, please pm me. I will be glad to go over my plan in depth with you. I just don't want to bore everyone on here with a bunch of my self professed theories and drivel. I will tell you this. I hit a stall at 6 months that lasted 2 months. Mind numbing is an understatement. Once I discovered what I was doing wrong and made adjustments, I lost more in the next four than I lost in the previous eight. Did the first plan I switched to work? Nope. Neither did the fifth or sixth one either. But, once I hit the nail on the head, I went into turbo mode and lost 120 lbs in 4 months and never, ever came close to stalling again.

You can do this. You are at a crossroads in my opinion. Start researching and start trying new combinations of foods, supplements, hydration and exercise. Keep changing every week until you find a method that kick starts your system.

I hope you are successful. Please keep us informed with your progress.

Hi Amy, I'm intrigued to know how you are doing since your last post. I want to personally thank you for your bravery, and I totally understand how hard it is for you and frustrating, I feel it too. Sometimes I look at the success others have had and how good they are looking and it makes me feel like having a pity party. On one hand, I am happy and hopefully when I see and hear about the dramatic changes of our fellow sleevers, but on the other hand, I feel like its unobtainable for me. If is frustrating when others say "oh you're overeating" I didn't overeat to get the 267 pounds on in the first place, I ate the wrong things maybe, but did not overeat. Now I can barely get three meals down per day- much less the 6 meals they suggest. One thing that does interest me is that most successful people eat 60 (+) proteins per day and drink plenty of water. If I drank the water required I wouldn't even be able to eat anything. Grace offered some pretty good advice--I hope it helps. Take Care

    Hi everyone,
So now I'm 13 1/2 months post op Still no weight loss. I have increased my protein intake and water intake. I even switched vitamins ( Tinnman recommended a great vitamin) . So I did get my GI and my sleeve is perfect no complications , leaks , too big ect. My surgeon said " you are one of the rare ones that the surgery isn't quit as successful on as others " . Greatful that I'm not broken but bummed that I'm in that rare category

So I guess I'm back to square one ( whatever that means ) . I sware sometimes I feel so desperate to get this weight off I just want to glue my teeth shut. LOL

I agree that with 1200 calories a day and 2-miles a day walking you should be losing. It must be so frustrating for you. I hope you can resolve whatever is going on. Please do keep us updated.

You are a reminder that the sleeve is not a magic "easy button". Everyone reacts differently. Good luck to you.

I hope your dr.'s tests brings you answers. My doctor has been warning all of his patient about the danger of high calorie drinks. He had a patient who had only lost 25lbs at the 1 year point. After doing all the checks they discovered she was drinking a steady stream of McDonald's sweet tea. So in actuality she was consuming around 3000-4000 calories a day! Since this warning I have committed to only drinking water and 2 4oz cups of coffee a day! No sugary drinks! I'm terrified that this will happen to me! Praying for you and sympathize with your problem! Congratulations on the weight you have lost! It is an accomplishment!

I am only 6 weeks out but I can comfortably eat a 6 ounce meal 3 times a day so I don't think 10 ounces sounds like all that much. The only difference is that I have lost 30 lb in that 6 weeks and I continue to lose. If you are eating 30 ounces of food a day but 3/4s is lean chicken or fish and the rest is veggies and a small amount of fruit and whole grains then you are going to lose weight sleeve or no sleeve. Unless you are completely sedentary. There must be a metabolic problem or you are misunderstanding something about the food instructions you were given.

I lost 25 pounds on my (2 month) pre-surgical diet and my weight the date of surgery was 290.

I have always heard that if you don't eat regularly, at least three meal a day and don't eat enough, your body says, "Ummmm, she's not feeding me, so I have to keep back my fat for the future". If you eat right, your body says, "OMG, i need to let some of this go"

You mention that you follow the food limitations and that you exercise. Have you looked into your NET caloric intake? IF you are taking in 1200 calories aday and you are also exercising this would drop your net to below 1000 calories. This would throw you into "starvation" mode. Your body will not burn its fat stores.

As for the whole 10 ounce thing, it all depends on the protien. I can eat 8 ounces of grilled fish very easily with some sliced cucumber on the side. But then I have a hard time with a 6 oz steak by itself and nothing with it. The further out from surgery the more you can tolerate, the key is to eat till you are satisfied not till you are full. We all get hung up on that full feeling, it is like a drug. Godspeed on your journey.

Did you ever get your sleeve tested? Just curious to see what the doc had to say? I am in the same boat. February - will be a year & a half. I pretty much have been on a stall the last 6 months. I have juggled my calories - 600 to 800 to 1200 & now back to 800 per day. I journal my food along with watching my protein intake, carbs & etc. A long with exercise 30 minutes per day - walking, kickboxing & crosstraining.

I am up for any suggestions as well!

2+2 are not equaling 4 here. Could you supply us with a complete honest daily food and liquid intake? Also type of exercise and when? Unless you have a tumor growing this makes no sense at all. I think a good honest appraisal of everything consumed should hold the key.
