Hi I have lurked on these forums since before my surgery. I was sleeved on May 20. Bowel movements have been sporadic, which I can understand given my limited input, but why are they green?

No it isnt the iron. I take the supplement only every other third day or so. And I eat protein shakes, deli sliced turkey, deli sliced cheddar, crystal light, yogurt. Nothing green and leafy. I am worried.
Hmm...
Fast bowel movements (poop is green inside our bodies from bile and gets darker as it sits inside our intestines.)
Eating food with food coloring will color poop green (grape juice, lollipops, kool-aid, jello)
Leafy green veggies high in iron will do this.
Some intestinal infections / food poisoning can do this.
Green poop can be a sign of nutrient deficiency.
Green poop can be a sign of Celiac Disease, Chrohn's Disease, Ulcerative Cholitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome or even cancer. (If concerned, most of these can be eliminated through blood work or colonoscopy.)
Sadly or amusingly, my first desire was to answer this in Dr. Suess format. (i.e. What is this poop that I see? Why is it green when it comes out of me?)
Alas, it is past my bedtime. =)
Might try that tomorrow after I get work done if someone doesn't beat me too it. lol
