I hope I don't offend anyone by having my plastics sooner than someone else thinks I should... Oh wait- I don't really give a flip what anyone else thinks :-)
Yep- had my plastics one year from sleeve.

NO! Any doctor or nurse can take out a drain tube. I've even had a few patients take out their own drain tube. It is not a big deal. I can walk you through it over the phone! But, you DO need a doctor to remove the anchor sutures or at least a nurse.
I always advise people to have a doctor, though, willing to do follow up to assess the wounds if nothing else. Speak with your PCP.
99% of Plastic surgeons will NOT follow up on someone else's work, so just beware of that.
"The following is excerpted from www (dot) justlanded (dot) com/english/Mexico/Mexico-Guide/Education/Universities. Mexico Guide: Universities, University degrees, tuition and application process: The Mexican higher education, a guide to Mexican university degrees:
The Mexican higher education system is divided into three steps. The first Mexican university degree is the Licenciatura, which normally takes four years to finish.
In some careers like architecture, medicine or engineering the Licenciatura takes five years, in medical studies six years. The Licenciatura is completed with a final exam and a thesis. If you do a Masters (Maestría) after your Licenciatura, this can often replace the thesis of the Licenciatura (which means you finish your Licenciatura studies, then go onto a Masters degree and get your final Licenciatura degree together with your Masters degree).
The Mexican Licenciatura is often compared to a US-Bachelor degree, though in reality the studies are longer than those of a Bachelor. Many Mexican students finish their studies with their Licenciatura and start working in a professional field.
Alternatively you can move onto a Masters (Maestría) degree after your Licenciatura, which usually takes two years. Mexican Masters degrees are comparable to those of the US and other countries.
The Doctorado is the highest university qualification in Mexico. To be accepted to a doctoral programme you usually need a Maestría, although in some exceptional cases universities also accept a Licenciatura. Foreign titles are also accepted for entering a Doctorado, but in most cases they have to be equivalent to a Masters degree (some special foreign degrees like the German Magister or Diplom are also accepted). The recognition of foreign titles can be done by the SEP (Secretaría de Educación Publica) or a Mexican university. Ask your preferred university for details.
A Mexican Doctorado usually takes three years to finish. In general Mexican Doctorados are much more regulated than in many other countries and usually include a fixed plan for classes and examinations."
The Master's degree in Mexico comes before (or occasionally with) the doctorate, not after, as it is a lower degree.
If you're happy with your surgery, that is what is important. I'm just clarifying the degree system.

I just posted this on another thread ... read on a different WLS forum that a Dr. Yanez (apparently, there are several) really screwed somebody up with plastics. The patient is now being treated by another surgeon in St. Louis.
We aren't allowed to link to other WLS forums, but the forum goes by the letters B P.
Good luck doing your research.

Hello, I am pending a thigh lift and lipo with Dr. Yanez at Jerusalem Hospital in January. I've had trouble obtaining much information about Dr. Yanez. Did you find Yanez's patient care adequate? Were his surgical skills comparable to other plastic surgeons. Were you pleased with your post-surgical care? How long did you stay in Mexico after surgery - was the length of stay sufficient? How long until you could lift and work?
Any other information you can share would be very much appreciated.
Thanks much!
Kristi
I have speent so much time weeding through this forum to get pertinent info. Hope others think like me, whereas I'm looking for info on actual plastic surgery and not how long after weight loss surgery can I get PS. Thank you all who have provided surgeon info, pics, and prices. This is info I can really use when making a decisionto get PS. After reading all these posts, I still am wondering what the recovery time is, and approx how much time off work. Again, thanks all who have provided valuable info.
