I never had an issue with milk pre sleeve, now I can only do the lactose free kind. At least it is milk....

There are a few things that I struggled with soon after surgery, but then could tolerate again after a while. So you never know. I'm a big milk drinker as well, but I never had an issue since surgery.

I am not a milk drinker at all! Not that I don't tolerate I just have never liked drinking milk. So I guess that won't be a problem. Maybe try that lactose free milk.

I am now about 8 months post op and still can't handle a bowl of cereal with milk. I've tried multiple times through out the months and always end up throwing up. So - no milk for me!

I've found I can now tolerate foods and beverages that I could not handle during the first few weeks after being sleeved. Milk once caused me to dump and gurgle during the first couple of weeks post-sleeve, but now I can drink it without incident.

So, my advice is to re-introduce a bothersome food item at a later time. Several weeks or months later, the same food or drink that gave you hell might be tolerated by your system just fine. Good luck to you!

Yes you are very early out, I was the same at first, which made protein drinks for me very difficult. It took about a year before I could handle milk. The catch is this, after a year you will be able to handle just about anything, so take advantage of your honeymoon period and lose that excess weight!

Glad you can drink milk now, Jeff.

Milk was easy for me, too. I started drinking it about 10 days post-op. I've long drunk skim milk (and like it), so during the weight-loss phase that was a great source of protein without the extra fat calories: 8 grams of protein in an 8-ounce glass of milk.

I couldn't tolerate milk, water or artificial sweeteners for the 1st 4 months. Bethey all caused sharp pains. I drank lactaid, decaf herbal tea, dilute fruit juice and dilute regular sports drinks instead. After 4 months the intolerances all went away and I drink milk almost everyday.
