Harder than Expected

Ugh I smoked 40 yrs, embarrassing to say I started at a young age. Patches, gum, vape never seemed to work for me, they do good for a lot of others. Chantix is ok, but I hated the nightmares I had.
I went to a smoking cessation class and learned that it was the nicotine tickling the dopamine receptors in the brain, making you feel good, temporarily relaxed. Then in a few minutes that nice feeling is gone and the craving starts again until you put more nicotine in Your system. That info just seemed to click with me.
If you don't put it in your system it will eventually be all out, no more tickling!
I am 9 weeks today a nicotine free nonsmoker!

It's been nice to be able to honestly say, No I don't smoke, when asked.

I appreciate your honesty. I couldn't stop either no matter how hard I tried. Thus, I didn't. I've been smoking since I was 13. I turned 50 this Tuesday. All I can say is there are many who did with no problem. I couldn't. Maybe you'll be able. I'll be praying for you!

Congratulations... My deceison to quit came on May 20th, when the doctor told me he wanted be smoke free for 90 days. It was so hard trying to let that habit go, but I know it what had to be done or I would never get my sleeve. I haven't smoked in 3 days, I have to admit, I'm breathing better, no wheezing, less tired, I definately smell better, and my breathe doesn't smell of smoke... I feel great, the cravings are still there... but I find something to do to occupy my mind during those times. Thanks for sharing... I'm glad that I'll be able to say that I'm smoke free... I don't smoke!
