Default 30 inch waist? Am I skinny now?

As many of you know, we have no clue if we are still fat, skinny, chunky or what. I have lost a lot of weight, but I still feel fat.

I often go to the store and see what size I can fit in, just to help my mind adjust to the new me. Last night I tried on jeans and fit into some 30X32s. That is a 30 inch waist! How is that even possible? I have never had a 30 inch waist. I told my sister that I would feel skinny if I could ever fit into 34s. That ship has sailed.

I can't tell you how happy I am that I got this surgery. What a life changer this has been.

Yet, I still feel fat. lol, stupid head games.

the head games suck! but CONGRATS!!!! that is awesome! With my weight dropping lately with all my medical junk I know what you mean yesterday when i went to the store i had to get a jacket and i was looking at the ones on the clearance rack I am so used to the 3x section i usually find myself there but this time for the first time i found myself in the regular sizes at the mediums sure they would fit no problem and they do. I never imagined I would ever fit in a medium jacket but there is room now to spare. yet I still feel fat. I feel like that i think because i have a lot of excess skin on my belly that still looks "fat" but that is the next goal get the skin fixed and be done Good luck to you the head games do get easier but you still play them even over 3 years out

I think you are right, I don't look solid with my shirt off and I think that causes me to feel fat. I don't have terrible skin problems, but it's enough that it messes with my head.

I think she's right too. I'm a size 4/XS and people constantly tell me I am tiny. Actually, XS at some stores is too big for me. And I'm still losing weight. I have a 26 inch waist and 21% body fat. People envy my arms because of the muscle definition I have! But in the mirror, I see fat. I see saggy thighs, a much smaller chest that isn't the full bosom I used to have, and a MUCH less perky butt. I see arms that, when they aren't flexed, have flab. I see all the stuff they don't and I know it's fat that I could still lose. I don't get down on myself about the little bit of loose skin I have on my tummy because I had twins so I expected that. I consider myself lucky because my stomach is actually flat. I've just got a little bit of loose skin. Nothing overlaps. But I digress, I think we were fat for so long that we don't know what we look like thin, so we just see ourselves in a distorted way. We see that we're smaller, but we also see the damage left behind so we don't get how small we actually are. Body dysmorphia.
But, my friend, 30's? You have far and beyond arrived. Be proud of yourself!! That's officially skinny.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just need to be better.

I still can't believe that people find me beautiful now. I know I look good and I have been buying cute clothes from the thrift store because regular sizes in the department stores are too much! Lol! I even let my husband take this Christmas picture of me that I posted on Facebook. Boy have things changed in a year!

Thank you guys for all the kind words, a few of you have me cracking up. Anyone that calls me sexy is automatically going to need a drug test.

Wayne, I am trying to actually stop my weight loss, I don't like to admit to that, because I have become what I hate. Haven't we always hated skinny people who say that can't gain weight? I don't want to be that guy, but I'm honestly trying to put on a few pounds. I would like to have a soft landing when the loss ends and be able to control it. I am very mobile, but since summer has ended I haven't been working out as much. I was running and biking like a crazy man and then I stopped and dropped 20 pounds like it was nothing. Go figure.

I'm not saying I'm in maintenance mode, I'm more in the "figure out what is going on" mode. I eat what I want, cookies, pie, whatever and can't seem to stop the weight loss. Again, you can drive to Ohio and smack me, or I will save you the trip and do it myself.

Protein first and protein often. I drink four bottles of water a day and everything else is a "whatever I want". I do weigh daily to keep an eye on my weight.

Let me say this again, I think guys have it easy with this surgery.

Nathan, if you get any skinnier you will be receiving care packages from 3rd World Countries.

    Congratulations on your amazing effort!

I think the looking fat is from the fast weight loss. It wasnt too long ago that you WERE fat (overweight) and it takes a while for your eyes to adjust to the new body. I think after a while you will start to see the real you.
