Hello everyone,
I'm having my surgery in November. I usually get grouchy if I don't eat. Will this happen after the surgery?
Thank you,

WHY THE HELL DO YOU WANT TO KNOW! I'm hungry, excuse me while I go downstairs and fix myself a snack.
(Moments later, the hero returns)
(Burrrrp) That was a nice healthy snack. Where were we? Oh yeah, you wanted to know if you will be grouchy if you don't eat.
You won't need to eat as much (and can't at one time). Also, you won't have those hunger feelings like you use to, the majority of the stomach, including all of that ghrelin hormone, will not be there.
In short, no you won't be grouchy. Actually you will begin to lose weight, feel healthier and happier.
Congratulations on your decision to have this surgery.
(PS. I was only making a joke with the first sentence).
In the beginning you're not really hungry, so don't worry about it. Now when I get hungry I eat, so no grouchiness here. Now at a year out with my baby sized tummy, I sort of eat like a baby, small amounts more often. The surgery did not take away any sort of hunger hormone, I wish!
Yes you probably will. I do. And because we eat such small servings sometimes it takes me by surprise. I have learned to keep healthy snacks in my purse at all times. I keep string cheese if the weather is cool, snack size beef jerky, protein bars, nuts, or something like that. The good news is it only takes a few bites and equanimity is restored! I love being sleeved and hope you feel the same way when it's your turn. Wishing you all the best!
I never got grouchy after the surgery. I dont think it causes a major personality shift. at least not until you lose a bunch of weight and feel different about yourself. but that should make you nicer not meaner.
So far, I'm not grouchy. But I wasn't all that grouchy beforehand.
I'm also not hypoglycemic, which I've seen cause some people distress -- although, again, it's not so much grouchiness as mild confusion.

Nope.
Actually, my husband suffers from hypoglycemia when he is doing very heavy physical labor for 4-5 hours. He literally gets goofy. And always protests, "No, no, I'm fine," while he looks like he's about to keel over.
