Default what can I take for migraines

So I know you can't take NSAIDS with the sleeve, but tylenol
Doesn't work for me. What else can I take?

I asked my surgeion about that very same thing. He told me as long as I take low dosage and its not daily that I can still take my advil. Now right after my surgery it was only liquid tylenol. Tylenol might work for headaches and pain but it doesnt work well on inflamation and that is why I was taking the advil. I see you have not had the surgery yet so I would encourage you to talk with your surgical team about this BEFORE surgery. IF you are like many of us here you will need something for pains other then the surgery site. Neck pain, knee pain and back pain were all factors in my decision to have this done. Godspeed on your journey.

I haven't taken any NSAIDs for about 8 months. (I took 2 Aleve every morning for over 30 years. Sigh.)

And, like you, Tylenol is useless for me.

I've found that as I've lost weight (36 pounds so far), my knees just don't hurt as much. Yes, I still have arthritis. But I'm curious if I can get rid of all the pain by getting to goal (49 more pounds).

I'm just going to stick it out.

I have been told my prescription med will be just fine. I would ask for one. Ask your doctor but imitrex, maltax, and zomig all work for me.

Check with surgeon, of course....but I take ibuprofen (about 3 times a week), fioricet, imitrex (pills & injections, but only works if taken within 15 minutes of headache acceleration), tizanidine. Also check on preventative meds such as Keppra or Topimax. It would be a good idea to try to wean yourself off ibuprofen before. I take it (with the ok from surgeon, primary care doc, and neurologist) but I really don't feel comfortable taking it. My advice: Try other ways to treat it before surgery. For many people who have this surgery, their migraine frequency decreases significantly. Not for me yet, I am sad to say and I am 20 lbs from goal.

    Best wishes.
