No ibuprofen? Argh!
There is a laundry list of medicine we shouldn't take on a regular basis after we are sleeved.
I asked my doctor about short term temporary relief, like at 2AM and that is all we have in the house, she said it would be ok.
Bottom line, ask your surgeon and PCP who know your specific medical history which meds you can take.
@Duane,
You have one of those infectious smiles, like Goldie Hawn or Whoopie Goldberg.
Keep on smiling! You will look like the Cheshire Cat once you lose your excess body weight (we need more people like you in life).
I would think the fluid limit would be because if they needed to use barium or charcoal or any other oral liquid, for various reasons and you were unconscious and they put more in your stomach could handle, you may aspirate, also if they did feedings with the NG tube for any reason they would need to know that your stomach size is limited. I'm a nurse and that is my interpretation... but ask your MD, the reasons might be totally different....
I wear one for no blind ng tubes. I wouldn't worry too much about nsaids. If you are so out of it that you can't say you have a sleeve, they won't be giving you nsaids for pain.... I've never heard the fluids one before, but honestly, if too much goes down, it will just come back up. With 6 nurses in the family none think I need it at all but I feel better wearing one that says VSG surgery-No Blind NG tubes. That says it all to any professional.
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.
Duane, re NSAIDs and VSG -- my doc (and most docs) say: Can't do 'em daily anymore.
I haven't had an Aleve for nearly 8 months. I went cold-turkey long before surgery, along with some other things that aren't recommended post-op.
And I'd taken two of those suckers every morning for the past 30 years.
They promote ulcers. Doesn't matter whether you take 'em orally as tabs or liquid or shoot 'em up. Has the same effect.
Are they guaranteed to cause ulcers? No. But the downside if they do, with a little bitty tummy, could be rather disastrous.

I've been taking two ibuprophen before bed for months. Oops!
"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2
For the record ... neither my surgeon nor anyone in his office has said word one to me about wearing a medic ID bracelet. (I was just trying to be helpful with a link to some cute ones if anyone wanted to wear one.)

A medical bracelet was never mentioned and I didn't think much of it but a No blind NG tubes would probably be a good thing to have.
Not sure why they told us to include the 60cc or less fluids but I will ask. After doing some more research on other sites it does seem like the 2 big ones are the no blind NG tubes and the no NSAIDS. Some sites also say no sugar but I was not told anything about that. Guess it's best to ask your individual dr before you place an order.
