Default This is for the ladies

So I know that a lot of us have experienced changes with our cycles post surgery. Mine has been all over the place, late some months, right on schedule other months, heavier bleeding, more cramps, etc. Now after two regular months my cycle is MIA, just about 2 weeks late.

Has anyone experienced this? Not that I love getting my period but these constant changes are driving me a bit crazy.

    "Periods....bleeding...cramps..."?
I am of no help and am definitely out of here!

(Ask your gynecologist, PCP or surgeon and I hope your monthly friend visits you on a regular basis).

Inside some of us is a thin person struggling to get out, but they can usually be sedated with a few pieces of chocolate cake.

I have a tracker on my phone and the past year it was late 4 times and a early by just a couple of days 3 times. I also experienced some really heavy months and some really light ones. I want to say it might be normal but can only say that from mine and others experience. I know my gyn will not see me until it's two weeks late and it was never that late. Since the majority of my weight loss my period seems a little heavier and I'm more crampy. Fyi I have a paragard IUD.

    WriteOne111,
Yes... us lucky girls get to experience the wonderful hormonal changes that come with rapid and extreme weight loss. We store our estrogen in our fat. So now that youre losing, here comes the estrogen flucuation along with it. I had the same problems you did. It did finally even out. The only thing that is still going on is they are farther apart, like 35 to 40 days. Which is really no big deal. Somybe just go check in with your GYN. its pretty normal. Hope this helps!

When I had surgery at the age of 53 I had been in menopause, without a period for over a year. Four months after my sleeve I got a period. Boy, was I surprised. The doctor, however, was not. He just cautioned me to be careful. He said the rapid weight loss releases all the estrogen that has been stored in the body fat. Thus...I was a spring chicken again...at least for that month. Thank goodness I never had another period after that. I am now almost 2 and a half years post op with nothing else to report.
Just be careful with birth control if you don't want to get pregnant, because of the unpredictability of the body. Many women have the sleeve in order TO GET PREGNANT. They also advise if you can help it, not to get pregnant until much later after surgery so you can stabalize your weight and learn how to live with your sleeve.
I wish you all the very best of success...the sleeve has been a great gift to me and so many.

Yes ... please, double up on birth control.

If you've been lucky before (and not conceived), you will be less lucky after WLS.

(I've read many stories about unexpected pregnancies that happened too soon after WLS.)

I haven't heard that it's easier to conceive once sleeved. I'm 45 and would LOVE another baby. Hmmmmm, hubby may be getting very lucky very often.
