    Default Tdeherrera stressed and frustrated

    Hello everyone,
it's been 3 weeks since my surgery. In the first two weeks, i lost 27 lbs. But in the last week, i have stayed at exactly 310 lbs. The only thing that has changed, is that my meals have gone from 2 oz. To 1/2 cup meals. I exercise more now than i did before the surgery. I don't know why i haven't lost any weight in a week. There's no way three 1/2 cup meals a day can make me stop losing. I think, i don't know, has this happened to anyone out there ? I mean, i heard that you will stop and start losing but it has been eight days since i have been at this weight and i am freaking out. All i got out of my doctor was
some people only lose 20, 30, or 40 lbs. And that's it and some people could lose 200 lbs. So i could sure use some feedback, please.

To all you veterans out there, i have one week to go with my pureed diet and i would like to know what are some of the foods you ate after your pureed diet? Easy stuff, not complicated recipe's. I would just like to get the feel of what types of foods i could look forward to eating. Also, how did you know what size portion is good, especially when you eat out??????

I'm eating salsa or hot sauce on my scrambled eggs in the morning but i am having a hard time with it. Am i rushing the salsa and hot sauce or is it o.k. To eat that during the pureed diet?????????? It's more of the salsa, i think it's the chunks that i can't chew fine enough because it feels like it's getting stuck at the top of my stomach. It hurts real bad for a few minutes and then it goes away.

There are absolutely no support groups that i can go to and talk to people in person in my area, so you guys are my only hope.
I'm having a hard time with knowing what foods to buy and eat. I don't cook so i just like to eat simple. All my doctor told me was, whatever i eat be sure to chew 30 time before i swallow. He is a man of few words. Great surgeon though.
Thank you everybody for taking the time to read this.

    Tony

    Hey, TDEHERRERA.

I haven't been sleeved yet, but I've been a member here maybe 6 weeks. And in that time, I couldn't even COUNT the number of threads that started out: "OMG! I had my surgery 3 weeks ago. And I lost weight great. And now I'm stalled. What am I doing wrong? Life is over as I know it!"

Seriously, you just need to read and read and read this site. See what happens to those 3-week stalled people. (Spoiler: They all start losing weight again.) And if you really lurk here more, you'll hear from the long-timers about how they dealt with stalls along the way. I think you'll be quite assured that stalls are a very normal and predictable and unavoidable part of this journey.

Good luck to you. And congratulations on your 27 pound loss! That's fantastic.

    Ann

P.P.S. For starters, read this thread:

    http://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/b...month-out.html

And after that, use the SEARCH function here and search for STALL.

Put "3 week stall" into your search button and see everything that comes up. Just about all of us have been there. 27 pounds in 2 weeks is amazing, but it has put your body on alert that you are not eating as usual and it is trying to keep everything you are putting into it so that you don't starve. Our internal thermostats need time to re-adjust, so it's just something that we have to go through many times on our journey. Sometimes these stalls can last for weeks, but it's okay. You aren't in a race, you are doing great, and you will get there as long as you stick to your program. I think the chunky salsa can be hard to digest at first because of the crunchy onions and peppers. Fresh crunchy veggies are better a little further out. You might go with something a little less chunky for a while. Try refried beans, too. With a little low fat cheese and salsa, it went down good for me. Even a little sugar free pudding or applesauce (natural) that you can mix a little unflavored protein into will go down good. Wendy's chili (or your own) is good with plenty of protein in it. Look at the website: Theworldaccordingtoeggface.com It is written by a woman who had bypass and she has some easy very inventive recipes you can try. Good Luck!!

Its ok your scale will start being kinder to you soon. My sister was sleeved in May and went through exactly the same thing and as Ann pointed out it seems pretty normal when you read the forums. My sister has lost over 70 pounds now and doing great!

My take on that stall is from all the mountains of info we have been fed in regards to weight loss in the past. True or not, I am going with it when I have stalls. Our bodies were designed to try and protect us and it thinks you are starving it so it is hanging on to those reserves as long as possible. In the past, I for one, have dieted and then went right back to my old eating habits. That is exactly what your body is waiting for you to do. Once it realizes you are not going back to your old habits it will start working the way it needs too! And you will start to see the numbers drop again.

    Best of luck! Take care!

    Hi Tony,
I'm 7 weeks today since being sleeved. And yes, stalls are inevitable. My own theory is that our bodies go through "starvation mode". They think they aren't getting food and so are hoarding what comes. Give it time, the weight will start to come off when your body realizes that you will continue to feed it. I had stalls and assume I will from time to time. I at a lot of soup, refried beans, humus, cottage cheese and stuff like that when I came off of pureed food. A good blender is really important because it will allow you to blend your soups. As far as food getting stuck, that happened to me a lot in the beginning, but it does slowly go away over time. Chew really well and don't rush what your body can do. Listen to your body, that's really important. You'll get through this, and be better for it! Way to go on making this decision, over time you won't regret it!
