Default 1300 calories a day? Is that good or bad?

Today is my first day that I've actually come below my 50 carb count for the day! I even worked out today, I was so proud of myself until I saw my calorie count on myfitnesspal. The nutritionist tells me not to count calories, so I'm not too concerned. What do you guys and gals think? Is 1300 calories a day too much?

Really it's hard to say. For most of us, that's a lot...but if you have a good metabolism and are exercising about an hour a day, it may do you just fine...in fact it may help keep your metabolism moving along better than some of us who have to eat 800 cal because we can't exercise.
I'd say if it's working, don't mess with it! Just get your protein at every meal and keep on keeping on

Yeah I got my protein in...right at 90 grams. My fat was high, almost 90. But my love of salami and provolone has caused that, hahahahaha. My nutritionist told me since I'm still newly sleeved not to worry about calories. I'm almost two months post op now, so I'm still learning. I don't know what else to do to cut down on calories....the majority of the calories come from my protein. LOL. And I've managed about 60oz of water today....I think I'm doing pretty good.

You're doing better than I am LOL I'm really starting to get concerned about how little and the lack of variety I can eat. Geez, but my loss is good, so be it! Like Grace said, if you are consistently eating that many calories and getting all your protein and fluids in, as long as you are seeing a decent loss, you're likely just fine.

I have found that I get more water in if I exercise. However, gym membership runs out tomorrow and we don't get paid until Friday! Hahahahaha, so I guess I'll be working out at home until Friday. I'm starting to like exercise, I never liked it before. And the majority of my calories are coming from my protein, so my nutritionist said I'm doing okay. Gotta make some smarter choices like turkey or chicken breast instead of my beloved salami.

Turkey and chicken are KING... BUT! When I had a personal trainer I had an insatiable appetite for pepperoni at one point. I bought these turkey-pepperoni's at Walmart. I could have like 27 of those things for like 140 calories or something. Have you tried those? Their protein was high. I don't have the exact calculations with me... But, just a thought.

I get in about 600-800 calories a day--actually I never hit 800, according to MFP. I couldn't possibly eat anymore than that, but we're all differnt. If you're losing, it's working for you.

Can one of you ladies post a menu of what you eat during the day? Maybe I'm eating too much.....for breakfast I had an Atkins shake. For lunch, I had half a low carb pita with 6 pieces of deli shaved ham and a piece of American cheese and some mayo. I also had a squeeze pouch of apple sauce and a cheese stick. I'm full now, maybe I've stretched out my sleeve....should I be eating less? I'm starting to get concerned.

That does sound like a lot to me. I'm 4 days ahead of you.

    Today (it's now 4pm) I had:

    - 1/3 banana
    - Pomegranate shake (1 scoop vanilla whey powder, 250 ml pomegranate juice, 4 ice cubes)
    - 6 almonds
    - 1 whole grain cracker with 1 tsp cream cheese

For my dinner I will have about 2 tbsp. butter chicken (curry) & 1 tbsp. broccoli. I'll probably have about 1/3 cup vanilla greek yogurt & 1/2 apple later tonight.

See, I'm eating A LOT more than that. I'm worried I've stretched my sleeve out....I guess I'll do the pouch test my doctor told me about. Has anyone else heard about it? You make some thick oatmeal (about a cup) and you eat just until you're full. Then the cup you made the oatmeal in (I'm going to use a measuring cup, just to be safe) fill up with water, and the amount of water is how much your pouch can actually hold. It's interesting.....

I found some guidance for sleevers that says between 600-800 calories a day during weightloss period with70 gma protein and less than 40 gm carbs (1 to 2 years) and then 1000 to 1200 calories for the rest of your life. I am able to stay well below the 800 a day and feel satisfied so I will keep on this plan. For me 1300 would be way too much and I wouldn't be losing. Good luck!

krissyfor, do you know how large your surgeon made your stomach? Does he use a bigger bougie (the tool that determines the size of your stomach)? Was he conservative with your sleeve size for some reason?

Honey -- EVERYONE is eating more than Truffles. You have lost more than she has as she starves herself with a tablespoon of this and a teaspoon of that. Sorry, but as soon as she hits a stall the first thing she'll have to do is up her calories. There is no way to sustain a body on 400 calories with and hour of exercise. This is NOT The Biggest Loser! This time is a break to learn howto deal with food for the rest of your life. That said, unless you are very young and active, 1300 calories every day is a bit much at this stage. Your weight loss has been great though. I am not an expert. No way! I am a learner. And, for me, and the many others that I follow and talk with on this forum, 600- 1100 calories is about right. I eat between 700 - 1100 depending on my exercise. I have lost 2 pounds/week on average. One pound of that comes from exercise calories burnt -- the other from calories not eaten.
The rules my doctor gave me: protein first -- aim for 70 grams, no drinking of anything 15 minutes before and at least 1/2 hour after any food. That's it. Do that and get an hour of exercise everyday and you'll be all set.
    Hugs

Thanks, Gayle. I'm 28, is that considered young? LOL. I am very active, my job requires ALOT of walking....I'm a sales rep. So, I can easily walk a mile and a half almost two miles just at work. And according to MFP, walking at a slow lesiurely pace for two hours (I work 8 hours a day, but when I add up all the walking I figure it must add up to about 1/4 of my day or two hours) I burn almost 400 calories. Then I work out at the gym for 30 minutes and burn another 310 or so. So I guess I'm doing okay with my intake, it just seems like I'm eating WAY more than everyone else. I'm not losing alot, but I'm averaging about a pound every other day or so.
