Is it true that we have to wear medic alert bracelets afterwards???
I understand that, if we have to be intubated, it has to be smaller because of the sleeve. I've considered a medic bracelet, but wouldn't want it to be obvious. Maybe I should be microchipped. Just kidding!
"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2
My dr recommends one that says No blind NG tubes, fluid limit 60 cc or less and no NSAIDS. Have looked at some online and they have really cool ones now that don't even look like a medic alert bracelet unless you look closely. Also have a card I carry by my drivers license in my wallet.

I think better safe than sorry. They have plenty that don't seem super obvious to me. I plan on ingesting in one.
Good question, Terry. 60 ml is basically 2 ounces. I'm not sure how long it'll before I can drink more than 2 ounces at a slug. But I expect there'll come a time when I can.

I think the "no blind NG tube" and "No NSAIDS" seem legit. But, the fluid restriction seems odd. If you are ingesting fluid by mouth, you are conscious and have minimal/no mouth injuries that would prohibit you from drinking as well as speaking. If you are conscious, you can explain why you can't drink a large amount of fluid at once. That seems unnecessary. Medical alert bracelets are intended to relay critical medical information that may affect treatment in the event that you can not convey the information. To me, that seems like, no blind NG tube is really the most critical portion. A one-time dosage of NSAIDS is really unlikely to cause irreparable harm, but the NG tube could. Just my, non-medical, opinion though.
