Default Before I kill myself with this..

Ignore the title, I'm not suicidal I just know if I dont follow proper nutrition I could dehydrate or worse.

Before I talk about the pain, I don't think it's good that my stomach makes a noise after EVERY tiny sip of water? Is it telling me to much or too fast? I'm sipping 2-3 times every 20mins

4 days post op and I'm in some pain my doctors promised would be gone around day 4-6. Still a two day window BUT THE PORT IS NOT ALLOWING ME TO MOVE FREELY OR SLEEP. Z

I feel so useless. The liquid hydrocodone 7.5 mg they want me to take every 4-5 hours and it does nothing to me.

Please. Someone help me stay sane. Please tell me this pain is going to go away...

My incisions don't hurt. The port is excruciating pain.

    Anyone..

If you're like me, the pain is related to the gas. I noticed that I had more pain in the morning after laying down. I would get up and just feel like hell until I ate something or drank something warm. The best thing for it was walking around from time to time and I really found warm drinks to be soothing. Try herbal tea. Your stomach noises sound similar to mine too. I think that's probably mostly due to the gas as well. Hang in there, it will definitely pass. When I got up on day 6 (I think), I fell 100% better than I had the previous morning. If you are able to eat creamed soup, you might want to try some of that (just make sure you eat tiny bites and really slow) too. Then you won't be hungry.

just hang in there, every day you'll be able to sip/drink more and more and then one day you'll realize its way easier. My stomach still makes weird noises, i really feel like its gas in there everytime, and that the water is pushing that around and up, ect.. the pain will ease soon, your port should be coming out soon i would imagine?

The port was removed before being discharged. I'm saying that's where the pain is. Where the port was. And it's affecting my lower back I have to hold it to walk

Unfortunately, the surgeons can tell you what the average patient experiences. Everyone will be different. Sorry the medicine they gave you does not help the pain. Maybe warm compresses around the painful area will help.

Get plenty of rest and try the herbal tea recommendation. My nutritionist tells me it is really soothing.

Gas is a beast too. I am six weeks out and my stomach makes so many different sounds its like Rent (the musical). I am just taking it slow and trying to adjust to the life change I just went through.

Congrats on your surgery, it will get better.

    1. Are you taking a PPI of some sort? Prevacid? Nexium? Something like that?
    2. Water (and this is really important) is acidic to our stomachs. Add crystal light (or the like), lemon or lime to the water. The way our bodies process it, it turns it alkali and sits so much better on our new little pouches.
    3. Suck on sf Popsicles. The liquid will help to keep you hydrated.
    4. Experiment with warm broth and cold stuff to see what your body handles best. Everyone is different.
    5. Walk to get that gas moving. Use gas-x strips too.
    6. Lastly, the best advice I can give is use a heating pad or hot water bottle for the pain. It was a lifesaver for me.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.

If that's the case, then you should probably call your doctor. I don't think you should be having that much pain from the port.

    Not taking any PPIs

Reading over my paperwork now as to see when I can start all that stuff. The broth etc

I'm creating a batch of crystal light now

I've been walking a lot but I think the gas is still around my lower back. When I sleep with a pillow against it it's much better. If i lift myself up. It hurts. Use my left hand. It hurts. Turn to the left, hurts. I have to kneel down to get something off the floor.

Just kind of dealing with it. I only take the pain pills at night to sleep. But everytime I get up or sit down or cough I have to hold that area. I go to the doctor on Monday so maybe he can offer some help.

Talk to your doc about a PPI. Mine had me on one from day one and wants me to continue for six months. Your sleeve is producing a lot more acid than it needs to right now. It doesn't know it's little. The advice you've gotten is right on. You'll wake up one morning in the next 2 days and feel great and wonder what happened. Hang in there. It will get better very soon.

I have been taking my ppi daily and that doesn't make the port area feel different, it just makes my throat feel foamy. I think the port area hurts more since we had something cut out that had been there for a while(4 years for me). I am just going to try and make due and let it heal.
