    Default Haven't lost a pound.........

Well I'm almost 2 weeks out since my surgery, and I haven't lost a pound. I know that my body is in shock, and I can accept that, however I am not yet at the point where I can begin to exercise so that I can start working off some calories. I'm trying to just take the deep breath, tell myself it will be ok and relax, but having trouble. I'm not looking for sympathy, just wanted to vent. Deep inside, I DO know that things will work out, that this is temporary, and I WILL lose weight. I hope that whoever is going through the same thing right now knows the very same thing. Also know that the people on this forum are some of the best friends you will ever make in your life.

I'm 5 days out and I'm still so very swollen on my upper abdomen. I gained a bunch in the hospital and am still 3 lbs up from where I was on the day of the surgery. Starting to get concerned about the swelling. Is this normal? I feel so bloated, and I look pregnant..... Normal?????

kelly, well I know that the swelling is normal, your body retains the gas that they pump into you for a while. Did you have open or laprascopic? Because if it was the lapro it would be gas, and you basically have to walk it off. As far as exercising, I am walking, but have been in so much pain up till the last day or two, was basically unable to do much more. And walking winds me. I do plan to try more today, going to dig out the Wii and see what I can do. Have a sick kid today so not going anywhere.....

Yeah, I had laprascopic. I have been walking quite a bit, but very gassy. Will go walking more today. My pain is pretty well controlled. Getting in and out of bed is when I really hurt. I was actually able to sleep on my side for a bit last night without pain. Took pain meds at bedtime, then did hurt getting into bed. Woke up in the night feeling pretty good and able to move around. Up and around this morning with no real pain, just some mild discomfort. The largest scar, on the lower right, as well as the drain sight is what is hurting. No pain in the other incisions. I am taking my stool softener as well since it is recommended while on pain meds. Only taking it once a day though as I have a hard time with the taste. Still struggling to get all my fluids in but am getting more in each day.

Vent away Trina!! I have a feeling you will be seeing a big loss very soon!! Did you take measurements before your surgery? Maybe you are losing inches right now. Do you feel any lighter/smaller?

I've heard from some sleevers here that being in the hospital can temporarily gain more weight b/c of all the fluids that are pumped into them. I know it's frustrating, but just keep plugging along (and more importantly, talk to your doctor) and hopefully you'll start to lose weight.

I am in the same boat but what makes it worse for me is that i am 3 weeks out from surgery now and i can eat and i am eating. I get really depressed that nothing is happening and i find myself craving and giving into these cravings. I have been stuck on 228 for two weeks now and the scale does not go up or down. HELP!

I am right there with you. I have only lost about 5 lbs. I just took out my stitches yesterday, the main one hurts, I spent so much on this surgery and I think my metabolism its so screwed up it might take me a year or more also the same feelings are back of going on a diet and failing, I am definitely afraid this will happen again.
I have no advice, just make sure you get your protein/water in and pray. That is what I been doing. You are not alone.

Stay positive, and do what the doctor said to do as far as intake! It will pass, and stalls are more common than we'd all like to admit. I'm in one that has lasted about 3 weeks. I have lost inches however! Keep your chin up!

bellabbr- The stiches were something else!!! I ended up putting lotion on my legs last night. My calves are so small, I mentioned that to my husband, and he said I've lost quite abit on my back. I have to wear my watch half way up my arm or I will lose it, my rings will be coming off soon they are so loose. I'm losing inches like crazy.
I'm looking at some jeans with bling on the back side to buy when I get to my size 12 or less, and NO classic fit for me.
Ifind I'm eating every 2-3 hours. Mind you 1/4 cup or less, I'm satisfied. Drinking fluids somuch better now, stil lno big gulps .

Well that gives me hope, but right now I am just regretting this whole thing I have lost some inches but nothing major. I been tracking my food and I am at 750 calories a day average with the right amount of protein but about 40grams of carbs. I have contacted the coordinator but she told me protein first than veggies and then carbs. Uh I am still in the full liquid/mash phase. It makes no sense. So now I am totally lost. 5 lbs in almost 2 wks is pathetic with the amount everyone is loosing. Even dh who is always supportive is wondering what is up. Dh told me my body is probably in starvation mode and holding on to everything I don't know if I should up or down my calories. I feel like I am in another diet just a different one and this one is even more depressing. I can't go out to eat with my kids, I can't have coffee, bread or diet soda. I gave up everything for this?? yeah major buyers remorse right now

Okay ladies! Back to the basics. No liquids with your meals 1/2 an hour before and an hour after. Proteins first. You will be okay. Focus on your meal planning. Low cal high protein. HUGS! Get in some water.
