Question for FEMALE sleevers

My dr did not say or discuss anything about a potential "purged" menstrual cycle.

My cousin told me she had a heavy one, but she had bypass.

I find it weird, cause I have an IUD..

Has anyone else have this menstrual cycle immediately after surgery?

NO...as a matter of fact...I've only had two since July...was thinking this was what you might be talking about! I'm not complaining...just find it weird that it quit with this weight loss...

I hadn't had one for several months, thought the "change" had come. I started back up after the surgery and so did my cousin who is my age and had a bypass. I think it was because of the blood thinners. I am one month out now so waiting to see if there is a repeat. Hope not, only perk to getting older!

I have an IUD, I'm NOT suppose to have a period like this.. hahaha... well not sure as for not suppose to, more like I have NOT had a period like this since I got my IUD put in over a year ago

well....I am 9 months out and my "monthly gift" is all over the place now. I had tried to ask my doctor about it and got an answer of " I only did surgery on your stomach!" I was kinda upset at that then he suggested I ask my OB doc....yeah not so much support coming from my "team" anyway for me I have been clock work with monthly to the day, EVERY 22nd of the month then moved to the 17th, and now its the 10th! ugghhhh yeah the more weight I lose it seems to be getting worse.....will it normal out?

YES! Am tortured. I also have an IUD - 8 years now. Been on my period since Saturday 12/3 - had surgery 11/28. Cramps and hunger prangs. But it's normal due to the release of the hormones into our bloodstream from the fat loss. Aghh. There's always something, huh? I asked this same question too. Check out the replies I received:

I have an IUD and nothing has changed with my period since my surgery 4 months ago. Everybody is different I guess some will experience changes and some not. Good luck!

YES! I had my period about 5 days after my surgery and it was about 2 1/2 weeks early! I read about this before surgery and thought the people probably were just wrong on their dates...but nope, they did know what they were talking about!

I do know if you have or had blood sugar issues and were not regular, then will get regular. But your's, I do think its best you see the gyne.

I got a light period about two days after coming home from the hospital. I was like, woah, where'd that come from?

I am only 2.5 weeks from surgery, but I got my period within a couple if days of having surgery, but I was due, so it will be interesting to see when it comes this month...

So I was sleeved on 12/14/11 and my period came at it's expected time, only it's SUPER heavy and my cramps are absolutely horrible! I haven't had a cycle like this in years! I'm assuming it's just because of surgery and the changes my body is going through... but it's a serious drag!
