Getting hungry...

Hi everyone! I am starting to feel hungry on the 3rd day of the pre-op liquid diet...I have had 814 calories so far today...I had my 'dinner' (protein shake), and am satisfied now. I am also feeling a little run-down. My long days at work are probably contributing as well. I guess I'll just try to keep up the protein and remember that in 11 days, I will be having my surgery, and the hungries will be better. For now, I'm still smiling. -hugs-

Keep smiling Lisa! This is temporary. We all expect to feel hungry when we go on a diet. It's normal. But soon your hunger will mostly go away, and you'll be satisfied with so much less food you won't believe it!

Im on my 7 day pre op diet! the first four days were the hardest! I have protein drinks...i bought the shots at walmart they are whey protein punch flavored.... mixed with water and crystal light powder.... and eat creamy chick soup at hands by campbells..... and the broth from chicken noodle soup... sometimes i have splenda grape juice for a new flavor... to drink...... today is day 7 and im down 18 pounds.... and not hunger at all.... the first few days i thought i was gonna starve..... goodluck keep trudging forward! goodluck.... it will be worth it in the end!

Hi Lisa, I know what you mean.Today marks the first week for me on pre-op diet, 3 more to go.I don't really feel hungry, more tired and sooky then anything.
It happened all of a sudden and I just went down in the dumps.It's summer here, so I can't blame the weather and lack of sunlight.
I feel a bit better now that I am reading posts from everyone here, that always helps.

Day 10 for me on the pre-op liquid diet! I have been getting in just under 800calories a day and also feel a little run down or tired! It is good practice for the 1st week or two post op, though! Best wishes to you!! Hang in there!

Sandy, That's what happened to me yesterday...I suddenly thought, oh man am I going to make it thru this. And this morning, I actually went to grab a box of cereal for breakfast! Wow, old habits die HARD! I hope that by the end of all this I have developed some new habits that will be as all-pervasive as my old unhealthy ones! I know I will. I have faith. I believe 100% in what I'm doing and that is half the battle, I suspect. Thank you all so much for your support! xoxoxoxoxo

I had that problem when I was on the preop diet as well. I would actually get the shakes. My doctor said it would be okay to have a little cheese when that happened so I kept the Babybel Light cheese on hand. I ate approximately one of those a day. I know it didn't affect my diet because at the hospital they congratulated me on sticking to the diet so well. They said they could tell I was very complient by the ketones in my urine and blood.
