I just learned something yesterday from my doctor that has me pretty upset. I have been diligent about getting my protein in every day. I have the powder I mix with skim milk and also the little "bullets" of the clear, fruit flavored protein. I would make my shake or drink two of the bullets every morning, get my 60 - 80 grams, and be glad that I was done with it and didn't have to worry for the rest of the day. But now I learn that the body can only absorb so much protein at a time, and I was literally wasting it. He told me to cut the protein drinks in half now, and drink them hours apart, otherwise my body will only absorb about half of what I drink. All this time, almost 3 weeks out, I have been drinking all of it in one sitting and getting only half the benefit. And half of the daily allowance. Crap. Nobody told me to space out the servings, so if you are in the dark like I was, consider yourself enlightened. Nothing I hate more than choking down that protein, and I was so happy getting it all done early in the day. Duh.
