Does anyone else have problems with people telling you how to eat and that you shouldn't be eating that? My family and friends are about to annoy the heck out of me.
Oh ya, I had that n then I finally told them to hush already. A lot of my bypass friends were telling me what I can and can't eat. But umm hello were so not the same. Tell them thx for the advice but u already know what to and what not to do
I agree!! My surgery is the best kept secret from my entire family. It's just me an my mom
It has worked fine for me.
What I have experienced lately is some people (not related) that just keep telling me to stop loosing weight!! why do they care? I can continue loosing a couple more, I am being monitored by a dietician...so I don't pay attention to them.
If you are following your doctor's advice you will be fine.
While we are on the subject, I am SO tired of being asked EVERY DAY if I have lost any weight today! My husband , kids, mom, dad, sister, sister in-law, mother in-law ect..ect..
Then they want to remind you of what you should and should not eat! They have NO clue! I am getting in around 500cal. eventualy the weight will come off! I am tired of weighing everyday just to satisfy their couriousity. Now they are all on diets and telling me I should try them, What do they think I just did???? My husband who is the sweetest but he only needs to loose 10lbs so he gives up beer and wha la in one week there it goes! I think maybe I am a little to sensitive about it still!! lol
Lorrie,
I honestly think we will always be sensitive about anything related to our weight or diet...
But really some people are just annoying!!
I do hit the scale everyday and write it down, but it is just for me, it helps me keep focused and I am not obsessed at all.
Some people will want you to eat at their same pace, that is also annoying because I get full with very little so I have learned to eat very very slowly. Others will want you to eat a piece just a piece of their burger when you order salad...it's an army of people trying to sabotage us!!
But we are here to fight this battle and will win
It is stange how there are "well-meaning" people who will always try to sabotage us. My mothe-in-law, after I lost the first 30 lbs and I said I need to lose 50 more said, "oh no, you can't lose any more!" I was just under 200 lbs still, I have 20 lbs in belly fat alone still to lose! I don't get it! And then I think my mom is afraid of me getting skinnier than her, as I used to be (she is insecure and is always flaunting her clothing size). She is always making comments about me not getting "too" skinny or making sure I eat enough. My kids and husband are the only ones who know I had surgery and they have been very supportive. My daughter is excited and thinks I will get to her size (that would be amazing-she is stunning!). But regardless, we are all losing, and getting healthier and happier in the process. Besides family members (the ones who SHOULD be the most supportive), I have only had positive comments from friends and aquaintances. Thankfully!
Isn't it great for everyone to be able to get issues off their chest - where they know that people understand them and really care for them. Well done everyone. I am so happy to have come across this forum. You are the best!!!
Jenny
You guys are just gorgeous...... I am not telling anyone either (except my husband and children) my surgery is on the 8th February so getting quite excited. It will be interesting to see how people react in line with what you have been talking about above. Judy
