i wanna know when can i swallow a whole perfectil tablet (a bit smaller than the Centrum tablet). i'm only 23 days out, but i'm worried about my hair so i wanna pile on the protein & the hair pills ...........any suggestions plz?
If it is a TABLET...I suggest cutting it into small pieces...and taking it that way...If a CAPSULE...Open it and pour in a spoon and go for it. I felt comfortable taking a whole HORSE PILL TABLET about 6 weeks.
I am 62 days out and i still can't swallow some of my pills whole..I just keep breaking them in half..lol

~ doesn't think she'll ever reach her original weight, no matter HOW hard she tries. Hell, let's face it, 8lb 10oz is not very realistic is it?
Holy cow, I wont take pills or tablets but they told me I could start taking my pills 2and weeks out and they sent me home w/antibiotics plus I had to do an extra 10 days and not a problem at all. I can't believe any of you still can't take meds. Have you talked to your Drs about this?
Susan, I have a question. after having surgery what is the status of your kidney disease? and are you still on all your meds? I also had the same issues that you have, am off a lot of meds, still on all bp meds. but off some of the others, kidneys have gone from 37percent to 93 percent!!! I was estatic!!!
That's awesome Yankegal! Hope Susan gets great results like that too! Not nice to watch someone with kidney disease.
My Brother-in-law is on a transplant list for a kidney and they check the matches every 3 months, so we hold our breath and then let out a sigh of despair as we watch him suffer with dialysis every 2nd day. He already had a liver transplant in 2004. Cause of all of his problems was taking too much Tylenol 3's for pain - ironically. Good luck to both of you in managing your kidney diseases.
No, my GFR was 9 when I had the surgery and it continues to be 8 or 9. Seven and one half years ago I was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease and told I would be on dialysis in @ 3 months. I still have not started dialysis. I feel really good about 99.9% of the time. I still take all my pills and have to drink a glass of sodium citric acid 3 times a day. My kidney disease was caused by the intestinal by-pass weight loss surgery I had in 1973. They told me it could ruin my liver, so I had tests for that every 4-6 months for 33 years. My liver is fine, but it ruined both my kidneys.
In 2005 I had my original by-pass reversed and they were going to do a gastric pouch at the same time. However, there were so many complications with the reversal (I was the 3rd patient ever to have this surgery at Kaiser in Harbor City CA so they were still experimenting) that they could not do the second surgery. Therefore in the next 6 years I gained 90 pounds even though I was eating 600-700 calories a day and swimming aan hour a day.
That is really great news about your kidneys!! Even though I am still stage 5 and know I will eventually be on dialysis, I am happy almost all the time. I never dwell on bad things, I am just grateful for the good things.
I wish you well on your sleeve journey.
I am so sorry to hear of this! I know how frustrating this must all be for you! Can I ask why do you have to drink sodium citric acid? both my parents died from kidney disease, dad was on diyalis, and mom well she was never a candidate for it. so she had a horrible death, and i was the one that took care of both of them so it was very tramatic for me. I know that I carry alot of the same geans as they do. so I am very causious of my health.
