Default I want to know ... seriously ...

To all those who have bravely decided to change their lives forever .. do you have ANY regrets at all? Again be brave and tell me, even if it's a small one.

Hi Mrs K. I havent had the surgery yet, am in Adelaide. Only regret if any is that I didnt know about this sooner. But am so ready for this after recent scare with blood pressure being so high....not sure why. I think with anything of this magnitude its easy to think what if? But we need to focus on the positives - new life, better health and outcomes.

I do not regret having surgery. It is natural to be afraid of having it done but once you have had it done you will be so happy. I have never had one problem. The only one is making myself workout. I have fibromyalsia and other things going on with me but I still loose weight. When I pick up on my working-out I will loose even more faster. Best thing I ever done.

    Good question
I had this surgery on June 29th. I haven't had a SHRED of regret at any time since then. From the time I woke up in my room after surgery until today, when I am down 51 pounds. My knees don't hurt anymore. I take things on that I previously avoided. My clothes fit wonderfully. I feel so much healthier in just four months.
Everyone has to follow their own path and I respect that. For me, this surgery was the best thing that I ever did for myself.

Nope, nada, never, zip, zingle, and its the best thing I have ever done for ME!!!!!!! I wish I had done it 20 years ago. No problems for me at all. Here recently tho, I've been under a little stress and have noticed how easy it is to fall back into bad habits, so I do have to keep myself in check!! Good luck.

I regret this surgery was not available to me 10 yrs ago. Before I got myofascial pain. Before I wore out my joints.
But that's not what you meant.
I'm only 9 wks out, and still in Boot Camp as my psych person would say. So far the hardest part is going out to eat. It's hard to sit there while hubby is eating a big old burger, fries, o-rings and I'm eating 2 pieces of fried mozzarella and then wondering what to do with myself besides watch him eat. I'm not hungry, that's not it, I just don't know what to do. I'm worried about going out with friends and making them uncomfortable. If there is a soup I can eat, I can nurse it but there isn't always.
But, regrets, as in I wish I hadn't done it? No. Nada. Niente. There is always some emotional stuff in the few weeks following, but after that, nope. I'm finally able to say I am really happy I did this.
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.

No regrets here. Even the emotional challenges are ones I needed to work on with or with out the surgery. All the behavioral food issues I had before were killing me. Like Grace said. The world does go on with their habits and people don't stop eating what they ate or friends don't change their prefrence to what they eat when they are around us , birthday parties and all the usual celebrations with food must go on so if you have a food addiction or its your all in all for entertainment like it was for me best to work on that with counseling from Nurtrition or a counselor as far out from surgery as possible. Its made all the difference for my qaulity of life after sleeve. Best wishes with your decsion. Lori

    Any regrets?

    None what so ever!

It's the best thing i ever did. The only thing that tops my sleeve was having my son. Since my op i literally have to stop myself from bouncing around in happiness.

I regret it when I just want to go have a good time and eat a normal supper with family and friends. Or maybe when I'd like some carbonation and sugar of some sort...but that's just me being weak.. When I get really depressed, I just step on a scale and realize I made a good choice. Then I'm all giddy and happy that I've lost weight, haha. So to answer your question in short, no, I don't regret the surgery. I just miss unhealthy things occasionally.

NOPE!! I don't regret it at all, like others; I'm sorry it wasn't available years ago so I could have saved myself expense and worry about having diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Now all those things are gone, a thing of the past, never to be back again. I love the way I feel , the way I look and the way I can move around easier and just "live life"! I wish I could enjoy the little bits of food I eat, but I know that will happen. As far as going out to eat, I love doing that! I can eat the little I want, eat off my husband's plate and always have left-overs for my husband's lunch! Another reason I love eating out is, I don't have to feel like I want to rush to get the dishes done, clean up, etc. It takes away the "pressure" of what comes after I eat and I don't have to cook just to eat a little bit of food. I enjoy the company, atmosphere and hopefully, soon the food will even be something I look forward to.

MrsK, I had my surgery three months ago and am down 64 pounds. I do not have one regret AT ALL. This surgery was my borthday present to my self and I wake up each day with a sense of hope and excitement for life I had long lost. I LOVE getting ready to go out and can't wait to do new things I had stopped doing because I was so self conscious about how out of control my weight had gotten. I would lay down on the surgery table again 1000 times over and am happy to tell people about my experience when they ask what I've done. I would bet my house you will not regret this choice! Best wishes.
