Smile New sleeve-to-be signing in from Holland

    Hey all,

Just wanted to say "hi" to you all. I am glad I found this forum, since there has been no social support in my programme.

As for my stats, I will be sleeved on the 25th of October, which is exactly 10 days after my 36th birthday.
The surgery will be done in Holland, where the gastric sleeve has slowly been gaining traction.
Pre-operative programme was done individually and basically passed it rather swiftly, due to all the effort I have made previously.
Just coming to the end of the pre-operative diet fase and I am glad I survived the initital cravings and terrible headaches.

Looking forward to the operation date, but of course I am also nervous and anxious of my first days afterwards.
In the meantime I will be digging around the forums to learn from you all,

    Regards,

    Katy

Welcome Katy!! You are so close to your surgery date. How exciting! You are about to embark on an amazing transformation. I used to live in the Netherlands from 2011-2014 in Landgraaf.

    Hi there!
In which hospital do you have your surgery?
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I am back now, getting used to my recovery. Didn't expect it to be so hard to get liquids in, pfft. Guess the swelling is now at its top.

Hospital was Tweesteden in Tilburg, Netherlands btw.

You can by sugarfree pear popsicles at the Lidl.
They can help keep the swelling down.
    And sip, sip, sip...

Glad you found a hospital that didn't go broke last week...
Lots of people I know were on the waiting list with one of those hospitals...

Welcome. Hope your recovery is progressing well.
This is a great place for support and advice.
Take it easy and follow your surgeons instructions. Concentrate on sipping that water and trying to get some protein in.
    It gets better every day.

Thanks for the tips and encouraging words!
Indeed I am starting to feel better and I could also get my hands on some sugar free popsicles (Ekoplaza).
The spirits are also lifting a bit, have to admit I did not expect to get such a rollercoaster of emotions.

@DutchSleeve - unbelieavble what happened with those hospitals, right? The only time I had my tellie on in the hospital, that was the one item on the news. Those poor patients who were on the waitlist and everything.

I agree, hospitals should not go broke.
Ridiculous... but, hey, that is Dutch government for you.

I am glad you feel a little bit better.
The rollercoaster may stay for a while though.
But just take your time, listen to your body and don't overdo it.
    It will get better!

O, and btw, I did not follow the Dutch dieting post op rules, but I followed the "American" rules, those suit me better in terms of safety after just been operated.
I am not a great believer in eating solid food soon after the surgery.
But that's me, better safe than sorry.
