I saw my surgeon for the last visit on the 24th, he said we were all set and ready to go. I explained after having surgery on my knee to his scheduler that due to my knee injury, which I have been off work for 2 1/2 months I was not going to be able to take the time off work as planned, due to I had surgery on my knee and will be completing my PT and then having to be back to work on the 8th of June. So she asked me if I would want to do this on the 2nd of June? I told her that would be great but they haven't started to get auth from my insurance. All my requirements are met so that isn't a problem. So they gave me the paperwork for the pre surgery diet, and said they are going to fast track the auth to get it back this week. I started the pre diet and am doing well with it. But I am so worried that they aren't going to be able to get the auth in time. Which means I am not going to be able to get it done till about Sept. because of my work schedule. I am trying to be positive but I just worry about it. I have lost 30 pounds total since starting my process. I am terrified that I am going to have to start all over if I have to wait till Sept. Im just talking about the weight loss. Hello Cyndie!

While I can relate to you dilemma (ask me about my previous authorization experience sometime after you have undergone surgery,) I wouldn't necessarily be overly concerned just yet about the doc's office receiving authorization. I know it is getting down to the wire, but these offices and their well experienced staff are capable of many wonderful things. I feel confident in saying that because of the strict deadline you are on, they will in fact be able to fast track your authorization paperwork and before you know it, you will be arriving at the hospital for pre-operative prep.
