New rob forum! Having a revision this month!

Hi everyone!

I’m new to the forum and this is my first post! I initially had a lapband in 2014, and lost about 70 lbs, but started having a variety of Castro problems including constant nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. I gained 50 lbs back. I could not get my surgeon to listen to my concerns (and I am a Registered Nurse), so I moved on and found another surgeon in Denton Texas. After jumping through some insurance hoops, it was revealed on EGD that my lapband had eroded through my stomach!

So, insurance quickly approved a revision. I am scheduled to have my revision to a gastric sleeve on march 19. I’m so nervous, as surgery terrifies me! I have 4 young children that depend on me, but for that same reason I am excited to get the sleeve and new energy! I would love to hear experience with revisions! I pray all goes well and welcome. When I had my surgery in May one of the docs who stopped by to see me said she was trying to get her mom to have a revision, as she has seen so many folks with erosion issues.

Hi Lorie! I can completely relate to being afraid of surgery because of your kids. I take care of my mom and that is my only concern about my surgery. I am very confident about the rest. Good luck with your procedure and like you said, in the long run you will be healthier for them.

Welcome Lorie! Lots of band to sleeve revisions on here. They are all successful, though they tend to lose a bit slower than first time WLS patients. Congrats on your approval to get revised to a sleeve.
