    Question Question regarding fluids.

I am less than a week out from surgery. I had surgery 2/26/18. I feel great. My only down day was Monday, the day of surgery. Is it possible to stretch my new pouch by drinking 60oz of hydrating fluid? I don't feel full and that's fine. My daily fluid goal is 60 ounces. I just do not want to risk stretching my stomach right off the bat.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

I don't think it's possible since fluids flow thru your stomach. But I'd drink slowly and be careful not to gulp so you don't get air in. If you're able to get that much fluid in easily, good for you. Most of us struggled to get our fluids down the first week. But I was aiming for 64oz and made it by the first week (took all day) and didn't have any problem.

Sounds like you're doing great. Just try to remember to sip early on. And no, fluids will never stretch out your stomach. They will keep you hydrated and healthy!

No. You won't stretch it from 60 ounces of fluid. Especially since those 60 ounces are throughout the day and not all at once.

I found it a real challenge to get my fluids in. I had to take so many small sips throughout the day. I did finally buy a sports bottle so I could sip constantly. That helped. I used to just drink a whole glass of water in one go -- very quick. Now it takes me several minutes to drink 8 oz. I think if you drank too much all at once you could stretch the pouch, but you'd probably feel pain before that happened...
