I’m new just 5 days post op. I’m doing premier protein drinks 90 c , 20 G protein 3 a day, jello, and popsicles. From what I’m reading you don’t really feel your stomach until the second week. How much jello and popsicles can I have?
Hey-o and grats on your recent surgery! ^.^
I am hesitant about answering food questions so soon after someone's surgery. SF popsicles obviously turn to water in your new pouch so I don't really see the harm in eating those regularly. Your protein intake seems pretty solid though.
Whenever I had a question about food type and quantities in the first few weeks of my surgery, I consulted my nutritionist or surgeon. That's always a safe bet. Sorry if I am not much help!
I would never eat either of those "food" items, as they are largely unhealthy (although they won't hurt your sleeve they aren't doing anything but keeping your mouth busy) When I got mine done last November I was lucky enough to have a Jack LaLanne Juicer and I was told that if I could juice it, then I could drink it...so I lived on a few of my favorite recipes full of cucumber and celery, lemon and ginger, spinach, etc juices as well as low sodium vegetable broth. I don't eat aspartame and I really hate how it's promoted within the Sleeved community in general. I also don't drink powdered or pre-bottled protein drinks. If you drink enough veggie juices to be satisfied, you're getting plenty of protein. I am vegan and I'd really like to spread the word of how I did it without processed crap and artificial sweeteners. Whole foods that are plant based are such a wonderful thing to do for your new stomach!!! <3
My surgeon/NUT said I could have as much SF jello and popsicles as I liked. Honestly, I didn't eat jello often but I did (and still do) eat the SF popsicles. They are tasty and help with fluid intake since they just turn into liquid. My husband loves the SF popsicles as well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with eating them as long as you are getting enough protein in.
Sugarfree popsicles are actually very beneficial.
The ice helps to reduce the swelling in you stomach, from the surgery.
What your are talking about is exactly how I've been feeling about this whole process. I'm 5 weeks away from surgery & I really want to stick to healthy, non processed organic, non gmo type of diet post op. Any tips on what you've been doing would be so very appreciated. Thanks!!!
