Question for the ladies?

Hi ladies (and gentlemen who may read this),

Has anyone else experienced erratic periods/bleeding in the first few weeks after surgery?

I was on the last day of my period on my surgery date (9/28.) And then this past Tuesday (10/3) it started all over again.

I'm imagining this is because of hormonal/nutritional/stressful changes in my body. I'm just wondering if this is something I need to prepare myself for over the coming months. I've always had a pretty erratic cycle, but would like to know if others have experienced something similar.

hahahah yes. I've had my period (spotting) more often than not since January.
And to put that into perspective, I have Mirena (side effect = no periods) prior to this I haven't had a period in 8 years.
My dr said completely normal. Hormones are all over the place. He said it usually levels out after 6 months, but thinks I'm still losing at a fast enough pace for it to be an issue (same with hair loss that started again).

Totally normal! I took some meds to have my period before surgery, and my coordinator laughed and said "...welllll, you'll probably get your period right after surgery anyways; it's a pretty common side effect from surgery. Sure enough I got my period right after surgery and it was wonky for the next several weeks. Good news is I've had 29 day regular cycles for over a year now.

I didn't with the sleeve but have after other surgeries. It is not uncommon. Hopefully it doesn't last too long.
