Althoug I don't write much, I am here on a regular basis.
I read and learn a lot here.
I just wanted to share with you that I have reached my GOAL!!
I am today 33 weeks out and my weight is 56,8 kilograms, which is 125,2 lbs, that is almost 0,5 lbs less than my goal weight.
I am happy!
After 3 months I started to exercise, following Ann2's number 1 rule for elderly people: "don't hurt yourself".
Good one Ann, thank you!
Btw: I am 5'4", and 63 years old.
I am definitely not (and never was) one of those sporty people, I did not like exercise and sweating one bit.
Now I started running and I am training to run 5K.
And what is utterly amazing to me: I like it!
I am flabbergasted...
As to my eating and drinking habits:
I am following the wsl guidelines to the letter.
I have never deviated from them.
I take 3 meals and 3 snacks every day.
I take my time and chew really well, at least, most of the times.
There is definitely room for improvement here.
I always eat my proteïns first, about 85 grams per day, which is not much by USA standards, but far more than the European standard.
I don't eat meat, I eat mostly plant based foods, but I do eat cheese and occasionally salmon or tuna.
I eat low carb, but once I start maintenance, I want to eat more fruit and starchy veggies, thus upping my carb intake.
I eat about 4 oz per meal, sometimes less.
When I will start maintenance, I don't really know right now.
I just want to wait and see, where my body takes me om this incredible journey.
I think I don't want to weigh less than 121.2 lbs, or 55 kilograms.
I think that number will be my maintenance goal.
I drink on average 3 liters (100 oz) of water every day, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.
I still can't drink pure water, I usuallly add some flavouring.
I've always been able to drink a lot and fortunately that hasn't changed.
I don't drink during my meals, I stop 15 minutes before till 30 minutes after, sometimes more, depending on what I eat.
Sometimes I still feel full after 45 minutes to an hour.
When I still feel full, I don't drink.
I still don't do alcohol, and I don't miss it.
I weigh myself on a daily basis, I know some people might disapprove, but I've always done it and I will continue to do so.
That is my way of monitoring what happens, especially important when I start to up my carbs and calories.
It will be a lot of adjusting (or maybe not? I'll see).
So, that's it.
Just thuoght I'd share.
Thanks for reading this.
Thank you all for making this forum as informative as it is.
Thanks for being an inspiration, especially thank you Ann2!
Not to say less of everybody else, but my main concern was, that I was too old to make this work.
Ann2 showed me, that that is definetly not true.
Thanks again!
In Europe it is very hard to get wls, when you are over 62...
