    Smile Sleeved July 20, 2017

Hi there! Well I had a rough first 5 days. I had a lot of nausea and vomiting, mostly due to acid reflux. Probably not what you want to hear. The good news is I toughed it out and came out the other side feeling great. I was back to work July 31st. I started walking 2 miles a day on July 29th. Slow to start but picked up speed everyday. Yesterday I started back at the gym lifting weights (3 sets of 15 reps) on all machines. I did have to lower some of the weight from where I was before and it I felt a lot more fatigue than before but I'm sure I'll get stronger. I'm very excited about this new me. This was absolutely the best decision for me.

    Really?
    Weight lifting?
Here in Europe we are not allowed to lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for at least six weeks.
After sixteen days your internal stiches are barely (if not at all) healed and you will certainly have internal bruising and other stuff that needs time to heal.
Not my place to do so, but I strongly advice you to contact your surgeon, just to make sure.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

I agree with DutchSleeve and you should check with your physician. I was sleeved on the 20th as well and am restricted to 10 pounds for six weeks also (September 1). I''be lost 16 pounds since surgery day, but have hit the dreaded stall. I definitely need to not use the scale! I wish you the best of luck on your journey!!

Hey Deb! I am glad to hear that things got better after such a rough start. I agree with the above about the weight lifting. Please contact your surgeon and confirm that this is ok. Must surgeons do not allow lifting more than 10 lbs for at least 6 weeks post op.

Thanks, I know it sounded crazy. I don't lift heavy. I don't want big muscles. Low weights (15/20lbs) with lots of reps for girl muscles. Lol and my doc said do whatever your comfortable with. I don't use free weights only the machines so it's a little different. I'm going slow and easy. I feel great but I also worked out 6 to seven days a week for the past year or more. It wasn't like I just started going to the gym. That's one of the reasons for the surgery. I was killing it at the gym and just couldn't take the weight off. The more I worked out the more I ate. Happy to say that's over!!!!!
