Default Looking for tips and ideas for someone who works from their car....

Hello! I hope this is an appropriate question for this forum... I'm new, so looked through them all and this seemed like the place

I'm having my surgery this month on the 24th (yay!), but am curious if anyone has ideas for keeping protein drinks cold all day? Do you bring a cooler in care and keep in with the drinks in it? Do you pack a bag with ice packs? Do you just wait to mix the drinks and use water, not almond/coconut milk?

May seem like a silly question... but I want to learn from others and make this as easy as possible, because who likes WARM PROTEIN DRINKS?! haha. Gross.

Thanks for anyone's input! I appreciate it!

    Brittany B

Hi Brittany. I don't work from my car or have this issue but definitely would think a cooler would be needed. I personally don't think I'd pre mix my shakes. Have a good blender bottle. I've always used the pre mixed shakes or water to mix the powdered mixes. I personally find the pre mixed more convenient and they seem to taste better for me. I also think once you're on food you'll be surprised at your protein shake intake. I only used them to supplement if I had eaten enough protein.

Small cooler with ice! Good for you, for planning ahead. I always have some snacks in the car too, in case I'm out and starving, it keeps me from making unhealthy choices.

I would save mixing your own drinks for home, and have the ready-to-drink ones in your car.

I have a Utopia stainless steel tumbler. It keeps cold drinks cold for up to 12 hours and hot drinks hot for up to 12 hours. It will keep your shakes cold regardless of how hot your vehicle gets.

Yes, keep a cooler in the car if necessary. NEVER be without some sort of food because when you get hungry, you REALLY need to eat. Once you are on solid food, there are things out in the world you can eat. One time in a pinch, I ate a Subway sub, just some of the meat. Seemed like a big waste, but I was HUNGRY!

Subway makes a good salad. It's just the sub ingredients you want, without the bread.

When able to find it I used the pre made Orgain shakes (chocolate or coffee because I didn't like the vanilla flavor). I just put two in an insulate lunch box with an ice pack, did the trick. Post op I couldn't eat much for three months so I did try my best to have more protein with shakes. I also used a Thermos bottle when I was making my own shake but I usually didn't like the consistency if it stayed in the bottle for too long. I also have an Utopia bottle like Rehabnurse and like it too. For months I could only drink iced cold drinks and since I live in a tropical climate I had to carry different kind of bottles with me. I'm glad now I can live the house without looking like a turtle who carries her house around
