Good Morning All,
Yesterday I did a body composition test with a local business called BodPod. I was surprised and elated with the results. Seven years ago when I last was tested during a diet I was on at that time. I weighed 294 lbs and fat total according to the test was 104 lbs leaving me with 190 lbs of fat free body mass. The assumption that extreme weight loss leads to the loss of good lean muscle mass. That is why we must eat LOTS of protein so we can stop the rapid muscle loss. So Sunday, I weighed 234 lbs down from the 294 seven years ago and way down from the 341 I was last June. I assume at the time I at most had 195 lbs of fat free body mass which would have left me with 146 pounds of FAT. As of yesterday, I was down to 179 lbs of fat free muscle which is about 16 lbs of lean muscle loss out of the 107 pounds of total weight lost. But my fat mass dropped to 54.xx or 91/92 lbs of pure fat. These numbers leave me at 23.1% fat down from around 40+%. But the bad part is my BMI still reads at 30% which is obese.
I am 3.2%, about 15 lbs, of fat loss until I will be listed as moderately lean based on my current stats yet 6 points, or 45 lbs lost, from a normal BMI.
If you have a local vendor, go get the BodPod scan done, especially those of you are pre-op. It gives you a clear indication of your protein levels and how your body is relating with your new you. Ignore the Resting Metabolic Rate, we don't eat that many calories nor can we.
