    Default On the fence....

    Hello all,
I would love to get gastric bypass but I am considered high risk....I have had so many health issues. So I am at a crossroad. I have gotten 2 opinions from doctors, and I think I will have to go it alone for now. I have lost over 100 pounds on my own...taken me 3 yrs or so. Would love to lose another 100 . Then I could be free from the 8 medications I take daily.

Prayers to all of you on this journey and good luck.

Hi Escapley - I am so sorry to hear that you are having many health issues. I have prayed for healing for you. Our Jesus is one that saves and heals.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24 - King James Version (KJV)

Thank you for your prayers. You have achieved great weight loss already - so be so proud of that. And trust that through faith you will get a to a healthy weight that will free you from all sicknesses. God bless you.

Good Morning, I was considered high risk and would not qualify for the bi-pass either however today there is a better wls called the gastric sleeve. If done properly it is just as effective as the bi-pass without the terrible side effects and does not require followup treatments or special food like some other wls. I would encourage you to learn more about the Gastric Sleeve. If you decide to do this you'll want to find a doctor who does a lot of them and one that removes 85% of your stomach, that is what as made the g.s just as effective. Another good thing about the g.s is your stomach and digestive system work the same unlike the bi-pass. If you have any questions please feel free to ask anytime. I'll let you know some of my health history that were ok for g.s but not ok for the bi-pass. First I have MS,CHF, Addison's disease, thyroid disease first I had hyperthyroidism then surgical hypothyroidism.I also have gastroparisis, I've also had to have a niesenfundoplycation, I also have a baclofen/pain pump implanted in my lower left quadrant of my abdomen. I also was recently diagnosed with diabetes but now seems to be turned around. I was on 2,000 mg twice a day. Now I'm on nothing for diabetes, my blood sugar's are good again. Woo hoo!! So far my experience with the g.s as been good. Only regret I have is, I wish I'd had it done sooner. Congratulations on your weight loss of 100 pounds!!! that is awesome. Good Luck.

Wishing you good luck. Were you denied for sleeve surgery as well or just gastric bypass?
