Hi,
Just posting a quick introduction. I am currently in the process of getting gastric sleeve surgery. My insurance requires a 6 month supervised weight loss program, and my 6 month visit will be in early January. So, hopefully I will be able to have my surgery in February or March. I'm doing alright with some of the changes I have made, but I haven't really lost much weight yet (so much for supervised weight loss, LOL).
I'm so ready for this lifestyle change. Although I am relatively young (31), I have numerous health problems and take many medications. I have had high blood pressure for years, I also suffer from GERD, depression, arthritis, and more. I was also recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. This was a real slap in the face, as I totally did this to myself! How many people in their 30's get diabetes? I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. Right now, I only have to test my blood sugar a few times a week, and it's always been within the ranges my doctor wants. I also take an oral med to help.
I'm sure I will post questions soon, as I have a lot of them!
My biggest dilemma right now is actually telling friends, family, and co-workers that I am going to be having the surgery. I'm not ashamed to have it, but I don't want people to know and then judge me. Not sure if others have felt this way or not. But, I do have a pretty good support system of friends and family.
Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year!
