Default Sleeve in January - 2017

    Hello there,

I'm a 30 something mom, wife, and RN. I was an ICU nurse for the greater part of a decade. I currently work as a consultant/regulator. I'm at my heaviest at 295 pounds. I have been seeing a dietitian for 6 months and have completed all the necessary prerequisites minus my final dietitian visit. My surgery will be in December or January.

I have been "chubby" most of my life. I was a size 14 my senior year of high school. I worked night shift for many years and had an addiction to Second Life. Both of these things, along with, emotional eating brought me where I am today. I've lost and gained as much as 40 pounds over the years. I am excited to finally have a tool that will help me lose the weight and get me back to the active life to once enjoyed.

This picture is from June 2016. I was in Annapolis, Maryland for business and had such a hard time walking around and was unable to enjoy the sights like I wanted. I also needed a seat-belt extender on the plane. That was rock bottom.

    WELCOME!

This is hands down the best decision I ever made for me and my health. My ONLY regret is that I didn't do it sooner!

I remember hitting that "rock bottom". I immediately started to make my plan to get sleeved. I had already done a ton of research. I just needed to make a decision. I'm so grateful I finally did!

Best of luck as you embark on your journey!

Welcome! I am also a 30-something-year-old RN who worked 12-hour night shifts for many years before recently settling into a desk job that involves no patient care.

Although I do not want to speak too soon, I do not regret being sleeved last year. I slowly reached my goal weight and entered the maintenance phase not too long ago. In addition, I now have the energy and confidence to live my life.

    Good luck to you!

Sound like those of us on this thread are all on par with each other. I've got my surgery date scheduled for 12/12. I've wondered if I'm a bit too old but doc and dietician tells me I'm still a good candidate. When my wife and I married 32 yrs ago, I weighed 185 and ran 2-3 miles a day. Messed up an ankle a few years later and the weight started up. I've done every program known to man and can feel pounds of sand in my drawers from So Beach. So looking forward to losing the weight and get back to being active again. It's scary but if all goes well, I will be ever so grateful. Good luck to you and I'll keep you in my prayers for success and a skinnier you.

You will definitely have to come back to Annapolis next year and take in all there is to enjoy. But skip the summer, fall is the best time in Annapolis. The Naval Academy is in session the weather is cooler and leaves are changing. Take in the Fall Boat show or a Navy Football game. The Maryland Renaissance Festival is going until the weekend before Halloween.

    Good luck going forward.
