Sixty plus hours a week I am surrounded by the most incredible
food imaginable, and I now manage to eat healthy and in moderation
    at work.

I am the perfect example of a binge eater with my night time food
    snacking/ noshing/ self medication.

I need to work harder on my obsessive compulsive behaviors. The VSG procedure will not
    help you here.

    Best of luck!

Obviously this person has a severe issue of some kind to troll a forum like this when so many of us struggle on a daily basis - even with our sleeves. If you're not a troll then I wish you all the best but this is not the forum for you and in my opinion, WLS is not the best option.

    There's my 2 cents.

Troll or not if this is a real question then I am going to give my 2 cents and leave it at that. You need to understand that there honestly wouldn't be a respectable Dr. that would touch you with a BMI that low and if they did I would run for my life.

With that said my BMI is 20.4 and I am 5'7" and all I can say is if I was to lose another 10lbs. I would look like I was dying. I am extremely thin and if your BMI is that of 21 I promise you that you cannot afford to lose any weight at all. You have not stated your height but even so your BMI is way too low for a good surgeon to approve this. Just think about the fact that you would most likely die in the end because when your too thin, not like me but too thin like you may end up with your organs start shutting down and then there's no turning back.

I know you said you have seen therapists etc. but sometimes it takes several to find the right one. Please DO NOT have this surgery, it IS permanent and there's no turning back once it's done. At the very least look into the lapband or the balloon if you must do anything, these procedures can be removed if it doesn't work out for you. Either way this surgery is not for you under any circumstances, good luck to you and I really hope you don't make this life threatening decision. I truly do hope you get help for your very personal situation and some how you can turn your life around.

Okay I'm really new to online foruming cuz i never did it before until now because i just wanted some input from experienced people.

I didn't even know what I troll was until I posted this post yesterday. I had to look it up online to find out what it was.

The thing I'm confused about is this: are you all saying that I'm a troll because you guys think I'm lying about my situation or because you guys are offended that a normal weight person is considering getting weight loss surgery?
I'm just honestly really curious about that.

Okay. But after the much bombardings on my post I want to apologize to all.
I realized that for an overweight person, having someone who is at a healthy weight that is thinking about getting the vsg may sound absolutely insane and crazy. I realized that it might even sound like I'm mocking to some. I didn't get to see it from your guys' perspective. So sorry about that.

I was driving today and I thought about how if someone was suffering from body dysmorphia and so felt the desire to cut off their leg cuz it didnt feel like their own, how I would react. I realized that I would think that the person was crazy and would completely be against the surgery regardless of their explanation. Why cut off a perfectly normal leg? But that would be just my perspective. The person himself might be under severe, life crippling, emotional and psychological distress because their leg didn't seem to be a part of their own body.

So their always are two sides of a story.

Anyways, just wanted to say sorry if any of ya'll were offended or thought that I was joking (cuz i really wasn't!!)
And Thank you to those who gave their honest opinion about my decision because it really gave me something to think about today.

I feel regretful that I opened this post because I didn't know that so many people would get offended.
I honestly wrote this post because I just wanted some thoughts from sleeve experienced folks.

    Anyways,

Getting WLS for an eating disorder sounds like part of the disorder. You need therapy, not surgery.

I do think that my eating disorder is not part of the disorder because I have been struggling with my eating disorder YEARS before my decision in considering vsg.

Vsg is something that just came up a couple of months ago and I am only considering it as a tool for my disorder. I would NEVER get a vsg if I did not have a eating disorder.

    But thanks for your thoughs

I agree. I would be extremely thin to the point of anorexic thin.

Months before my surgery I plan on gaining weight so that I will have enough fat to last me through the first couple months of the most restriction.
My goal with this surgery is that after a year out, I'll be able to consume 1200-1300 calories or so, because my body has a very slow metabolism ( i got tested and my body needs 1350 cals a day). Reading other people's posts, it seemed that most were able to sufficiently get 1200 cals a day after a year passed or so.

I don't consider vsg a solution to those who suffer from an eating disorder. Just like most of those who have gotten the vsg, I just want to be able to feel at least a little more self control around food. I'm not getting it done for the aspect of weight loss. For me its more about getting restriction. thats why i plan on gaining weight before my surgery.

I'm sure most of you guys know what it feels like- that fear of losing control when you are around food as well as the overwhelming guilt that comes after consuming endless amounts of it. its like the worst feeling ever.

I understand that it would be a problem if i wanted to get a vsg to be severely underweight. But my goal weight is around 115 pounds which is in the healthy range for my height. I am 5'4".

    TROLL ALERT!!!!!!!!

I was thinking thinking this is the 3rd really bizarre question his woman asked. First about feeling your organs. Then about wanting to eat a whole watermelon. Now having a BMI of 21. I was thinking wack job but we are all too nice to say that.

"I personally feel that everyone has the right seek happiness in their lives and I feel like the vsg will give me some control over my crazy eating patterns."

The VSG will most definitely NOT give you control over your crazy eating patterns. You really need to do more research.

Also, I'm 4 months out and can easily consume 1300 cals in an 8 hr timespan. You mentioned that you thought you would get to 1000 cals after a yr....more like after a few months. And if you don't have control over your eating, you'll be eating more calories than that.

If you don't wanna believe me then just ignore the post and move on with your day, but ppl like Pam G are the reason why I'm still sticking around on this post because I am learning a lot getting much more to think about.

    Thanks.

I really think you are very misinformed and have unrealistic expectations of what exactly VSG does. It absolutely will not prevent you from eating 2000-3000+ calories a day even within a year of surgery, not to mention several years out. I personally consume 1600 calories/ day and that's with serious mental willpower and lifestyle changes only made possible through therapy. I could easily eat double that. It will not prevent binge eating. It will not give you a sense of control. Only you can do that with proper therapy. What you are asking is like an alcoholic wanting his hands amputated so he can't drink anymore. It's an asinine request and will not cure his alcoholism. Just like having a smaller stomach will not cure your binge eating. You need to transfer all the effort you are putting into researching this surgery towards finding the right psychiatrist. Or how about taking the thousands of dollars you will waste on surgery and checking yourself into a mental health facility. You will get much better results.

And, BTW, where did you find a surgeon that will perform this surgery?
