Default What do you do when you've got the "munchies"?

I've had "the munchies" for a couple of days. I think I started it by eating some carbs and that got the ball rolling.

I just want to eat ALL THE FOODS!

    Hey Pam,

I have too the last few weeks. I know mines is stress eatting. I eat cheese and protein bars to satisfy that snacking crazing then I dont feel awful about it later. I do mix it up everyday too. Check out the Combat crunch bars and power bar protein bars. I also enjoy the RAP protein gummies....just to keep my body guessing and happy.

So now your munching on health stuff instead of bad stuff.

Some people would say dont give in, but if its protein enriched and not terri le on calories why not?

Pam, don't feel bad! you are not the only one here!!
From Monday to Friday last week I had the worst sugar craving ever. It was TOM so no surprise here, but this time was really intense, like never before. For me it's usually linked to hormones/iron levels. So I took double dose of iron, did have some sweets I would never have usually, especially not every day for 5 days!! (because too much frustration is not good either) and by Friday it was over. I saw my surgeon on Saturday and we talked about the crazy sugar cravings. He did agree with my theory about hormones (several doctors did tell me before that it does have a huge impact), he said it's indeed related and since my blood test did show I was on the low side for iron I was probably too low before taking my mega dose. But he also said that since I lost a big amount of weight, my body is fighting back and trying to regain it ....oh no!!! already!!so as he was talking about chemicals in the brain....I just thought "not fair'!! but my surgeon was really supportive, he said that my weight loss is really good, I should not feel guilty about eating sweets this week (I did!) because we can't live in "diet mode" all the time, but track those sweets to stay in a reasonable calorie range, and try to have protein with it.
Usually I have one square of dark chocolate twice a week....it's 50 good calories (plus it does have iron!)...last week I had around 240 calories of bad chocolate PER DAY...for five days...and the calorie ratio is not the problem for me, it's the total carb per day which was way too high...
I didn't gain weight this past week, didn't lose either....we know why! But I've been better the past three days, crazy cravings are gone ...for at least a few weeks I hope....
Let's hope it will go away for you too! take care!

I think the stress of the holidays causes some of this...I get cravings sometimes still but I had a few bites of ice cream and it made me sick...that took care of those cravings. I have been so busy keeping track of my nighttime eating is what is hard for me. Good thing we don't spend time with family for the holidays.

Girl I know what you mean!! Sometimes I want to just eat for the sake of eating!! But I want to eat junk!! This usually happens once a month. TOM. Hate it!! My house sparkles at least 1-2 weeks out of every month lol. The only way I can curb that munchy feeling is to either get out of the house or start a huge mind numbing project.

Allow yourself to eat as much chopped cold chicken breast as you want. That way you really aren't hungry and you can't do much damage to your daily calorie and carb totals.

sounds like head hunger: stress, boredom, emotions...

Only way to deal with it is to NOT eat those things and have what you DO need to eat right in your face. The sleeve can only stop you one eat at a time. Do not learn to depend on that. Many regain because they fill the sleeve, wait, fill some more.

If carbs are this triggering to you, you may need to really cut back all simple, processed carbs and detox.

Have protein ready at all times. Better to nosh on that or veg.

the old rule is.....ask yourself....would I eat a 1/2 cup of green beans? If yes, you are hungry. Eat a nice balance meal. If the answer is "no", I want __insert specific naughty food___ then that's head and surgery does not fix that.

For me the trick is to have no crap in the house. I try to stock up on nuts, low fat cheese, low fat greek yogurt, tuna, veggies, hummus, etc for when I want a snack. Instead of chips with salsa, I'll have jicama and salsa, or celery and carrots with hummus. I literally can't have any bad foods in the house as I have no willpower. No wonder I was fat.

My struggle is with wine, hubby is in a "wine of the month" club and gets this huge case delivered to the door. Then he gets upset when I drink it. (And I know I shouldn't as it's just empty calories.) I asked him why not a "candy of the month" club where you get a huge case of candy every month? I would eat it all. So I need the wine gone too! Actually starting in October I've told myself no alcohol and stuck to it, but it's hard. I like a glass of wine after a stressful day, and with my job, every day is stressful. Three days and counting without any, wish me luck!

Three days and counting without any, wish me luck!
I'm glad I don't like wine! I don't have any junk in the house or at work, except for some sweet pork jerky. The munchies have passed, thank goodness, but I know they'll be back.

I'm post menopause so why the heck do I have these stupid munchie attacks?

    Keep up the no boozing!
