Default Eating off of the kids menu

I don't know why I'm surprised at how little I can eat.

Ordered off the kids menu showed my card.

I decided to color as my husband still has a stomach and can eat and eat.

Does it bother you when you go out to eat and your full in a second and bored just sitting there?

I haven't thrown up since surgery and I'm really trying not to over do it.

The only problem with the kid's menu is it's typically crap. And the good stuff is expensive, like the tuna tar-tar. (Maybe $5 for the kid's chicken tenders and fries, and $15 for the tuna appetizer.) I alternate between the kid's menu (still love chicken tenders), tuna, or a compromise like a small salad topped with chicken.

Try to eat slowly, it helps.

I usually have my husband order a larger meal than he normally would eat and then we share. I agree the kids menus are usually less than desirable and not as healthy. I do get bored and talk a lot or walk around the restaurant if able. We usually leave as soon as he is done. I have thrown up about 4 times since my surgery. NOT FUN!!!

In most restaurants the kids menu is just awful. Fat with carbs. I prefer to order something I like and pack the left over. Or I take a small salad and split with my husband or one of my kids (they don't order from the kids menu) if they take meat/fish, so I can have enough proteins and they have more green. I try to eat slowly and put my fork down after each bite so we eat "all together'. It's better for my stomach anyway plus that way I'm not done after ten minutes.

I went to my first group meeting last night and restaurants were the subject. Kids menu is actually not a good idea. I'm like you, I figured that would be the way to go. But was advised last night to order meat and veggies off the regular menu and make a couple of meals out of it. As for throwing up I've done that twice since surgery. Both times were because of a turkey burger patty. It just does not agree with me.

I have not been out to eat since my surgery but I used to be able to order off the kids menu anyway. I would just explain to my server I was on a diet and needed a smaller option. Depending on the restaurant, some have different options for kids menus other than just chicken tenders. My husband and I used to love going to Texas Roadhouse and they have a menu item that is a steak cut into pieces and you get your choice of a vegetable. You just have to be choosy on where you decide to go and order according to what is healthy for you.

I generally share my meal with my husband and kids when we go out to eat. If I can take the leftovers home, I always do.

On the days we're eating out and I can't take the leftovers because we're going other places, I just accept the fact I don't eat all that I pay for. I feel it's better to waste the food than have it turn to weight on my body.

I go out once a month with a group of retired friends. I either order an appetizer or order an entree and box what I can't eat 'to go'. I keep a cooler bag in the car and when I go out for lunch or dinner add an ice pack to it. St a couple of restaurants I box half the appetizer because it's too much.

Ah, ok. I'd rather eat a few bites of grownup food from the hubby's plate, or order my own and have several meals from it.
